On this week’s episode of the Hoonvierse Podcast:

We’re back at the Palatial Podcast Palace in Redondo Beach as Abe Drimmer joins us on producer Chris Hayes’ casting couch. Mister Drimmer is a “freelance digital strategist,” a title which he expounds upon in great detail at the podcast’s start. Hint: it has nothing to do with frickin’ emojis.

It DOES has some stuff to do with video games, especially Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed, which is—according to a reader-wide poll of myself at the age of 12—the greatest racing game ever:

And speaking of Porsches (awkward segue!)… Le Mans may have ended a few weeks ago, but it’s still fresh in our minds. And from Nissan’s grasp at glory, German engineers being pissed off, and fancy mind-blowing tech abound, there’s plenty to talk about. And not just over the Ford GT.

For a guy who didn’t get into cars until a scant 6 years ago, Drimmer not only knows stuff, but also can expound about it at great length. So, let’s have a round of origin stories! Origin stories are always fun! Personally, I was birthed in the 3rd cylinder of a Datsun Cherry and bathed in the fiery brimstone of Mt. Pinatubo, which explains the magnificent hair. And the rickets.

  1. NFS:PU and the Donut King Countach? This might be the best episode ever. I can’t wait to tune in on my way home tonight.

  2. I can’t be arsed to listen to “podcasts” but I like pictures of venerated supercars en flagrante.

  3. I don’t expect you all to believe me, but I once got drunk at a horse racing track with the marketing manager who drove the Australian Donut King Countach … He told a tale of how it broke down in the middle of Brisbane’s Story Bridge at rush hour and paralysed the whole city. He said it was the best publicity stunt he could have ever pulled off, but it wasn’t planned at all.

Highlight of my life. Thought I’d share.
