Things are moving along rather nicely at the moment. The front and rear end bits are bolted in place. I’ve patched a panel in the inner front fender. And since I’ve published this video, the car is actually sitting on the ground on a set of rollers I borrowed from a friend.
That means the next stop for this car is OC Cars down the street. They’re going to knock out the rest of the wiring for me. While it’s there, I will have them run fresh brake lines. I may also ask them to double-check my work—because why not?
The parts list sitting in my garage is now growing, too. I have the correct oil pan along with a starter and water pump. The cooling system has arrived. I snagged a set of hood pins because pretend race car go vroom someday. Additionally, I swapped the grille for a black piece from Mustangs to Fear. It has a pair of cutouts for a set of driving or fog lights. I’ll shove something obnoxious in there for late-night canyon runs, in case the urge ever hits.
The list of what I need to order next continues to grow, as well. I’ve put down a deposit for the T5 I’m having built, which means I need to order the crossmember for it as well as the driveshaft and yoke. I also need to start checking off the boxes for all the little things I’ll need to actually make this car do car things. Additionally, at some point, I will want an audio system, and now is as good a time as ever to figure that all out. The dash is ripe for slicing so I can fit a modern single-din head-unit in there, and there’s lots of space for running the wiring to where it needs to be.
I now need to figure out the clutch setup. My plan is to go with a hydraulic kit to make engine bay clearance easier. No need to worry about clutch line routing as it relates to the headers I’ll be stuffing in there.
Lots to do, but also lots being done. My goal is to fire this thing before Christmas and I think that’s extremely doable.
Congratulations on the continued forward progress. And thanks for acknowledging the proper use of “Posi”.
Are you planning on painting or detailing the engine bay while everything is still apart and accessible?
I thought you’d appreciate that, haha.
At the moment, the plan is to just get everything together. I know NOW is the ideal time to make things look better… so maybe I will ask the shop to hit the engine bay with a quick clean-up when it’s over there.
