  1. I never was a huge of Star Trek, but I grew up with it and respect it. Every new movie is on the obligatory watchlist. Nimoy’s character was the unbeaten #1 in this universe, not just for me, but for a lot of people. This is a celebrity death that actually saddens me.
Well. Back to mundane Hooniverse business. Just drove past a three door 99hp Suzuki Baleno GS. Was there ever a more generic car design?

      1. Ah, I see your way of thinking: “Here’s the motor, here’s the luggage, and where do you say the passengers go, mommy?”. Yet, crevasse and half-covered rear wheel beg to differ! How about this one for child-like designs…?:

It’s just that the Baleno three door is totally bereft of personality. The wagon and sedan do at least have that utility-look going for them.

  2. A sad day as we bid farewell to Leonard Nimoy. Those who know me are familiar with my devotion to all things Star Trek: The Original Series. I was lured in at a young age to re-runs (I’m not THAT old, sheesh) on channel 11 WPIX. I distinctly remember asking my parents why there weren’t any more episodes and being absolutely confused by the answer.
Shortly thereafter, I recognized a familiar voice on In Search Of… Later still I discovered The Animated Series and confronted my parents on their failure to alert me to this development. I mean, seriously, HOW COULD YOU NOT KNOW?!?!?
Movies of varying quality followed. There was some nonsense about a next generation or something. Apparently Kirk was a cop for a little while. They released The Cage. JJ came along with much controversy but the one thing he got right was the Kirk-Spock-MCCoy dynamic.
That brings me to my point. Yes NCC-1701 and her ample nacelles might have gotten us to tune in. What kept us watching, writing in and dressing up (we all do that, right?) was the actors and their intimate portrayal of two pals and a frenemy. Taking on everything from doomsday machines to space hippies. Week after week it was the same. McCoy would freak out, Spock would remain calm and Kirk would bang the green chick. What could be better? Cruising around in a starship, sitting in a chair with a built in remote, watching a giant flatscreen TV, with guys like that at your side. It was the ultimate dream. A dream of a glorious future.
Thank you Leonard for your part in that dream. Godspeed.

    1. As a kid, nothing but nothing was as exciting as getting the latest Lincoln Enterprises catalog.

    1. Thank you for playing INTERNET. AUDI is the winner. Would you like to play again?
