In May of last year I wrote how now is a good time to custom order your new car. If you have the time to wait, you can get whatever you want, configured how you want it. Suddenly those on-line configurators make sense. This also allows one to confirm a buying price, avoiding bullshit dealer mark-ups.
Those custom orders also allow automakers to do something nice for the actual buyer. For instance, Ford emailed me a picture of my Bronco rolling off the assembly line. I think that is super cool and not something I’d otherwise get.
If you followed my Bronco order purchase/drama, you’ll be happy to know that it’s finally here, in my possession. Much more on that later.
Last Call indicates the end of Hooniverse’s broadcast day. It’s meant to be an open forum for anyone and anything. Thread jacking is not only accepted, it’s encouraged.
That’s pretty cool to see your very own truck come off the line. It’s also pretty neat to see production back at the same factory that produced the original Bronco, and the F-series Bronco. The place is looking pretty spiffy these days. My late father retired from there, and always appreciated a Bronco, especially the 60s – mid 70s models.
I wish Ford (and GM) would take a cue from the Mopar bunch, and put the customer’s name on the Monroney when you order a vehicle (although maybe I’m the only car dork who keeps them, and think they’re cool).
That photo update is awesome. I also didn’t think I’d care for the black steelies….guess I was wrong there. That’s a great looking rig. Crank up the Tom Petty – “the waiting is the hardest part”
….aaaand, if I’d have read the ENTIRE story, I’d have noticed that last paragraph. D’oh! Ok, maybe the Tom Petty is for me – ’cause I can’t wait to read about your real world experiences with that bad-boy.
Employed used to get their corporate ID “name” on the Monroney but that stopped a few years ago
Congratulations! Really like the color too. I am a big believer that form should follow function but nothing need be ugly and the Bronco nails that. Can’t wait for your report.
Good to hear it has arrived!
