Long before Audi swallowed them up, Ducati was working on a successor to the 1198 Superbike. The result – the sequentially accurate 1199 – arrived with a record-best for a twin 197-bhp at the crank and an intricate desmodromic 4-valve breathing apparatus that allows for an 11,500-rpm redline and a mesmerizing CAD presentation. The Panigale engine is equally as beautiful on the outside as well.
