Jaguar F-Pace SVR: Luxury Hooliganism

Jaguar F-Pace …SVR.

Oh the noise. The raucous 550-horsepower supercharged V8 engine sings a symphony that’s deep and beautiful. And then it’s interrupted by fire belches, and it makes everything better. This is a machine that, if you still don’t like crossovers, will make you realize that perhaps you should soften that stance.

Yes, we’d prefer this engine to be placed between the fenders fo the Jaguar XF SportBrake wagon. But that’s never going to happen, at least on US shores. So instead, we get this this wicked wonderful thing.

And it is wonderful. The Jaguar F-Pace SVR is luxury hooliganism and we love it.

[Disclaimer: Jaguar tossed us the keys to the F-Pace SVR and included a tank of fuel. We used much more fuel after that, transforming it, along with air, into tremendous noise.]

The ears are pleased. The eyes, not so much. I’m sure a test drive would impress, but just because a vehicle has a great powertrain doesn’t make up for the rest of it. I like the little bit of F-Type in the taillights, but the rest of the design looks either borrowed from another vehicle, a decade old, or simply dull. I completely overlook the F-Pace in traffic. Besides, this car makes lousy use of its footprint– even a CR-V has more interior space.
