Insane Ducati-powered Fiat 500 gets Hooniverse Seal of Approval

800px-Fiat500R
Take a car roughly the size of an Oompa-Loompa, toss the original motor, and cram in a L-twin desmodromic Ducati mill channelling the power through the rear end via a six-speed sequential transmission and a LSD … whaddya get? That sure as hell ain’t your grandmother’s recipe for minestrone, now is it? It’s more likely to add up to a whole heap of fun, with a claimed 330 HP per ton, barring any mid-corner encounters with rough pavement or wet leaves. The apparently UK-based Famarra F500 is a singularly badass offering, mating an awesome sounding (I have to admit a serious weakness for desmos) motor to a featherweight package. Plus, chicks LOVE 500s almost as much as puppies and Colin Farrell, so I think everyone wins, right? Just don’t hit anything more solid than a banker’s potbelly.

Unfortunately, Famarra neglected to provide pics, so all we have is the basic outline of the situation, and the random Fiat 500 pic above. But use your imagination. It seems like a work in progress, so we won’t rush ’em, but good work signores!

Smart ForTwo w/Busa engine Vs Fiat 500 w/Ducati motor. It's Axis Vs Allies all over again and I can't wait.

Or… I guess, Axis vs. Axis, so far…
Quick, someone get to work on a Mini with a LS7!
Oh, wait… That's what the F1-67 is for. The nuclear option.

Yeah I thought about that after I wrote it.
Well we should use the 1125 engine from the remnants of what was Buell motorcycles.

Ducati twins produce aural glory. I must have video with sound as soon as this is complete. This is project sized appropriately to fit into a smallish garage and still leave room for the bicycles and cozy coupes.

I'm sorry. I can't get behind this project. You see, I'm an American. As an American, I believe bigger is better. This needs to be at least a Ford Explorer with a V10 for me to even be mildly interested*. It's the creed of America. It's in our very fabric. If we start drooling over these tiny Euro cars with tiny 2-cylinder engines in 'em then the terrorists have won. And by terrorists I mean the French. So stand strong, my fellow Americans. Don't let this get to you.
*Unless you're in Texas where biggerer is betterer and it would take an International CXT with a straight-16 to make you even look twice.

Well, you need approx. 666 hp in your Exploder to have the same power/weight ratio. Not too difficult I suppose.

Considering that Cinquecentos have a flathead twin 500cc engine that would look at home in a riding mower, a Ducati desmo V twin would be a hoot to cram into one of these. However, you then have a really fast Cinquencento. Bad things would happen in a really fast Fiat 500, but bad things happen quickly whenever you stuff something big into something small and go real fast. This is where real greatness occurs.
