Infiniti is certainly in a weird space. The recently released QX55 didn’t knock our socks off. But we knew there was a better model on the horizon and it’s finally arrived. This is the new 2022 Infiniti QX60, and it’s the model that the automaker needs right now. I got a chance to check it out for Autotrader, which you can see below.
With the QX60, Infiniti knows this is still a car for families. It’s a three-row crossover with a second-row that is easy to slide around as needed. There’s a removable center console between the second-row seats if opt for captain’s chairs. It’s easy to get to that third row as needed. More importantly though, from our perspective, is the fact that Infiniti isn’t stuffing a CVT under the nicely updated skin here.
In the nose, you’ll find a 3.5-liter V6 making 295 horsepower and it’s backed up by a nine-speed automatic gearbox. If you opt for the all-wheel-drive version, you can also spec a towing package that lets this thing haul up to 6,000 pounds.
Infiniti needs the QX60 to be good. And based on our first impression of it, we think they pulled it off. Now we just need some time behind the wheel to see if it’s truly the case. But based on looks, inside and out, we’re off to an excellent start.
