It’s time for a bonus episode of the Hooniverse Podcast.
For 2025, the Kia Sorento has gained a new X-Pro trim, which marries the style of the X-Line with some additional substance. It’s available exclusively on the Sorento Prestige model, and for $1000, it adds more towing capacity, up to 4500 pounds, 17-inch wheels with all-terrain BFG tires, distinctive colors and trim for a look all its own, a locking center differential (which self-disengages as speed rises) and a torque-vectoring rear axle.
Kia brought this vehicle to the New England region for auto journalists to check out, and they brought Mark Savino, Senior Product Line Manager for the Sorento along. I was able to get some time with him to discuss the work of a product planner, how the company makes decisions about how to expand the lineup, and even get a hint of what’s next from Kia.
