Welcome to another edition of Motor….errrr Modern Art Monday. Our own LongRoofian sent me this tip about a French Artist who created this fully functional piece of floating artwork. Let’s explore this floating sculpture called Love Love.
I found the article about this creation in Gizmag, and according to their post:
French artist Julien Berthier has designed a fully functional boat to look as if it is sinking. The 6.5m (21ft) yacht was cut in half with a new keel and motor added so it remains in the sinking position while being fully functional. He describes it as “the permanent and mobile image of a wrecked ship that has become a functional and safe leisure object.”
Berthier has taken the boat across the English Channel to London and has toured it around Europe, getting plenty of offers of assistance from unwitting good Samaritans, who would presumably be either very annoyed or rather bemused by the contraption.

Now, that's clever. I can just imagine the looks he gets with the thing. Kinda reminds me of the Cadillac Ranch, but it moves.
Cute, though I wouldn't want to pilot this in anything but the smoothest water.

It may look like a burning car, but it's actually just a permanent sculpture. You wouldn't believe how many heads it turns.
Oh how I laugh when people frantically bang on my windows to "rescue me", and when all the fire appliances arrive to "put the fire out"!
And then I tell them "don't worry, it's just a rolling artwork" , they all fall about laughing, until the next time some fool reports a "car on fire" and then they come out again! They know me quite well now.

I agree! It's like the sculpture I have of me yelling fire in a crowded theater…everyone just loves the hilarity when the firemen arrive and there's no fire, just funny old me!
Great conceptual sculpture, but I don't think it will get too much use as a boat.
I’m not easily impressed. . . but that’s imperssing me! 🙂
