I was watching a reply of the Red Bull Erzberg Rodeo the other day, and I’m blown away at the skill of the riders. This is a race that takes place in the Erzberg Mine in Austria. It’s an iron ore mine that cranks out over 2 million tonnes of ore every year. And once per year, it attracts some of the craziest and most skilled enduro riders on the planet to compete over the course of the four-day event.
The finale event happens on Sunday. It’s called the Red Bull Hare Scramble. Here you have the top 500 riders lining up to rip across 35 wild kilometers of constantly changing surface types. Of that 500, usually, fewer than 30 racers actually finish. The most to finish was in 1991 when 51 riders cross the line. In 2015, just 5 riders completed the course.
It’s a truly wicked spectacle of motorsport.
What other races out there leave you in awe at the fact that they even exist?
