Hooniverse Asks: Is there a Company that Speaks to You on Multiple Levels?

Arksen products

I recently discovered the Arksen brand. It’s all stuff that’s well out of my price range, but I am simultaneously obsessed. The reason being that it encapsulates the sort of life I’d like to live. I love boxy adventure vehicles of all sorts, and Arksen sells restored and modified versions of the Defender, as well as a Unimog variant. My dream someday is to own a boat as I love being out on the water, and Arksen sells boats that range from 18-foot inflatables up to 85-foot Explorer yachts. The brand even has an apparel line that appears as up to the task of adventuring as the vehicles it builds. Even better is that Arksen creates with an eye towards conservation and re-use.

Its clothing is crafted from sustainable materials. The company supports projects that aim to help recover and rebuild damaged areas of the ocean. It’s assisting in planting vast swaths of trees in needed areas in Africa. Even its insane Explorer series yacht features an aluminum construction comprised of 70% recycled content.

Yes, everything it produces is expensive. But damn, do I appreciate the stuff Arksen is producing, as it’s doing so with a proper mission statement backing it all up. As someone who wished they were around to compete in the Camel Trophy competition, I love this sort of thing. And yes, I have definitely applied to be a part of the upcoming Defender Trophy event. Were I a wealthy man, there’s no doubt I’d want more to do with the Arksen brand.

What other companies out there are speaking to you? Sound off in the comments.

  1. nobody. maybe trader joe’s. i recently learned that they sell greeting cards much cheaper than anywhere else.

  2. Two weeks ago I had a doctor’s appointment. When I was done, I took an elevator to the ground floor, then switched to a second elevator for the parking garage. As the doors of the garage elevator were closing, an artificial voice could be heard coming from the control panel…the message was something about a sensor not detecting the position of the cabin relative to the floor. The position was indeed fine, but it was advising passengers to be careful getting in or out. The message repeated after the doors closed, and then again when we arrived in the garage.

So yes, Otis (elevator company) spoke to me on multiple levels: G + B1.
