Hooniverse Asks- 4th of July Edition: Historically, What American Car has Been the Most Revolutionary?

By Robert Emslie Jul 23, 2014

Revolutionary Today is the 4th of July or as we in the U.S. know it, Independence Day. We’ve set aside this historic day – claimed to be the date when the Declaration of Independence was adopted – to reflect on those who led our great nation to cast off the shackles of Imperialism, taxation without representation, and the getting all up in our grilles about our freedoms. Of course it took a Revolutionary War to realize the reality of what was promised on paper. If you are like me, the thought of revolution brings not just images of canons an redcoats but also of change overall. After all, in the 238 years since the founding fathers did their founding, there’s been a lot that has gone on. One of those things has been the birth, and growth of America’s iconic automotive industry. American cars are iconic and as individual as are our freedoms, and as you might expect from a nation willing to fight for what’s right, American cars and trucks have often times been the first to feature some amazing bit of technology, or carve out an amazing new niche, previously unknown. In celebration of our Nation’s revolution, today – before all the BBQ, beer and Booms – I’d like your vote on what have been America’s most revolutionary cars? After all, it’s the patriotic thing to do! Image: SonoftheSouth.net
