Last week, I had a look at the Genesis GV70 (for Autotrader). It’s a really good offering in the luxury crossover segment. While I was there, Genesis surprised me by showing another vehicle; the Genesis X. Now this is something that needs to find its way to production. It’s an all-electric grand tourer with amazing lines and excellent design. If Genesis is testing the water with this one, consider said water tested and figure out how to get these rolling off the assembly line.
Remember when I asked if Genesis is here to stay… it’s hard to see it any other way if they keep designing amazing machines, right?
Good looking car, kind of A5 ish in the rear quarter panel/c-pillar area.
Total aside, when I first started realistically thinking about shopping for cars, I’d go buy the new Auto Trader down at the Stop N’ Go every week. I still browse the Auto Trader app when I get bored. They’re putting more food on auto journalists’ tables these days than Hot Rod probably is, strange times in media…
Grand tourer-er all the cars!
But yes, this looks great, it’s probably close to production-feasible (or at least shows inspiration for a G70/80 coupe), and it’d be a great way to make a desirable EV.
What’s surprising is that it looks elegant, coherent and almost nimble for a GT, departing the era of chunky – even more so than Polestar’s competing GT. Personally, I find the two-stripe-lighting-arrangement to be quite gimmicky, but I am baffled how Kia/Hyundai/Genesis keeps a tight grip on the car news narrative every week. It really feels like there’s a new emperor running the business.
Quite a bit of 90s BMW 8 series in the rear 3/4 view, which is a very good thing.
I miss concept cars.
