Fantasy Finds Friday: 1972 Porsche 911 TargaChasing the sun…

One of my earliest memories when it comes to cars, is of a black-on-black 911 Turbo S. That seemed like the ultimate machine to my young brain. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve softened a bit in, well, many regards and that includes the idea of owning a 911 Turbo.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’d still hurl a punch a puppy for the keys to said Turbo… but I’d much rather relax and cruise in comfortably with an older 911 Targa. I’m not one for convertibles, so the targa roof fits the bill much more cleanly. That’s why this week I’m focusing on a 1972 Porsche 911 Targa as my Fantasy Find for Friday.

Looking lovely with its blue paint and Fuchs wheels, this particular Porsche appears to be in excellent shape inside and out. The seller has taken care of a few items to turn it into a well-sorted machine. There’s less than a day of bidding to go, and the reserve hasn’t been met at (as of the time of this writing) just over $30,000.

With the new Targa on the way, it will be interesting to see if there’s a renewed passion for the older versions. They seem to be a bit unloved by Porsche folks, but who cares about that. I love the idea of having a roll hoop, an open roof, and a flat-six bellowing behind my back.

This is my Fantasy Find for Friday, now it’s time to show me yours.
