Words can’t express how much I want this pickup. It’s got me in its spell, and I’m desperately wishing I had a few thousand spare dollars to pick this car up and take it home with me.
I know it’s the less-desirable T25 Transporter. And in a way, that’s why I like it so much. These vehicles have never been popular, never been that desirable. The interior is, well, let’s call it “basic”. It’s a simple, ugly, unloved beast, in need of some love and affection.
The body is far from perfect, but the running gear underneath implies that it has been well-cared for. There is still a shine to the engine, and it appears to be nearly perfect under the skin. The interior has clearly been used, but appears to have weathered well. The seats are intact, the body is relatively straight aside from a few minor spots. In short, it’s perfect, and I want it.
So all I have to do is raise a few thousand dollars, and it’s mine. Sure, that whole “raising a few thousand dollars” has never proven particularly easy, but I’m more than happy to try. Anybody know any wealthy benefactors who want to help a Hoon out?
Desire, Thy Name Is T25 Transporter Pickup

The ad says it has 127,007 kms, but it also says mileage unknown. Conversions are hard.
-
Seller should claim zero mileage. It only has kilometers on it.

Is it just the pics, or is it really a sort of medicinal pinkish-brown?
Looks like a great antenna if you like underground radio.
Air cooled? Water cooled? Doesn't say.
A cool find nevertheless. Why "George"?-
Since it's a 1986, it would be water-cooled. Air-cooling on the Transporters ended during 1983.
-
I'm almost certain the presence of the lower grille always means "with radiator."

Damned kids and their ignorance of classic cartoons.-
How the hell do people not know this? How can anyone not have seen the Abominabubbabubble Thnowman??

I've sometimes thought about writing a letter to Bill Gates and asking for $50,000. I'd state that this is for purely selfish reasons and not for a charity. I wonder if it would work? Maybe you could try! Let us know how it turns out.
Also, George would be a perfect name for this gem.-
No not George, I would call it Heinrich or Wolfgang.
-
What's the Cherman version of George? Juergen? Something like that?

By the way, in Germany this thing is called a "DoKa" for "Doppelkabine".

Sorry but this price is CP. Basic, rusty bus and 5k? Pffff. Here in Europe where used vehicles are usually more expensive I could find similar one for CAD 2k. and it feels still like a lot for what you get. Started to look at them and found also nice one with Ford V6 (140 hp) for 3,5k EUR = 4500 CAD. http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/showDetails.htm…
Seller really asks this kind of money? Just say no. -
I know I'm in the minority even inside the Hoon fringe, but I've never been a fan of the Vanagon and its variants. Slow, unreliable, expensive, haven't-you-ever-heard-of-a-Landcruiser, etc. A double-cab splitty? Sure. A poser-mobile that'll take more trips to the shop than the bush? No thanks.

If that T25 was also a Syncro, this olelongrooffan would be all over it. It would be an excellent beach buggy. But, alas, the roof is just too short for me.

Great pic! It even shows the standard rust under the sliding door!
