Marty McFly’s legendary Toyota SR5 truck remains high atop the list of all-time great movie vehicles. It looked fantastic in 1985, and the truck still looks awesome today. Still, what would an updated version look like? Professional YouTube madman Colin Furze has figured it out. The answer is an 8th-gen Hilux made extra rad courtesy of help from Arctic Trucks.
This build is not as simple as “plop on some wheels, tires, and extra lighting.” The Arctic Trucks treatment ensures that all off-road upgrades are done correctly. But Furze takes things a step further, as he is often want to do.
In the bed of the truck, Colin has created a swingarm-based lifting system to help get heavier loads into the bed of the Hilux. It’s actually quite ingenious, both in terms of its functionality and how neatly it stows when not in use.
Another feature I appreciate is that the roof lighting system is easily removable when not in use. The lighting wiring connection is quick, while the setup’s mounting to the truck is simple yet smart.
Overall, this Hilux is one kick-ass machine made as a proper tribute to an all-time great.
