Welcome to the Hooniverse Classic Captions Post. Once again it’s that time of the week in which this feature appears, so it’s now time to review the premise; I search for images that were used by the car companies in their print advertising or brochures, and it is your job to provide a humorous caption that is some how tied in with the image. This week we have an image of a couple trying to recapture their youth…

Last time, we had an image of a teeny tiny Bikini, and for some reason the responses were rather light (So, what’s up with that?) The runner-up comment was from Alff (Yet Again!). His caption went like this: “Sadly, both would eventually succumb to model bloat.” You know, Alff speaks the truth, but there was one caption that was just a bit better….

This week, the winning caption came with a Photoshop (that you see on the left) from Irishzombieman☆. You can click on the image to blow it up, but the caption went as follows: “You ever get the feeling that doom is just around the corner? Yeah, we know the feeling well. That’s why it’s comforting to know when the well goes dry, the hookah’s empty, the girl’s run off and the whole damn world’s about to end in fire, you;ve still got a sweet reliable ride”. Well now, that was very well done, so congratulations Irishzombieman☆ on winning the Caption Contest for last week.

It’s now time to take a look at this weeks entry, and it is an Print advertising image for the 1980 Chevrolet Camaro, and it is equipped with the newly available V-6 powerplant. This is another perplexing image that dates from the time I just left college (Yes, I am that old…). The man to the left seems to want this good looking Camaro Berlinetta, but I can’t really place the woman on the right… His wife? His mother? His Elderly Mistress? And what does the kid have to do with anything except fondling the left front fender of the Camaro. Is he the offspring of the couple? Strike that, as the mental image is just too disturbing. Is this really any way to entice you to purchase a sporty car of the 80’s (Which was really a decade old by this time)? Only you can answer these questions, while we bring you this rather puzzling image to your otherwise boring Tuesday. (You can click here to see the full size image)

You have the next five days to come up with a great caption. The editors will deliberate on the merits of each entry, and after contemplating our own caption (Like how did that kid happen), we will pronounce a winner. So, get to work and create you’re own caption for this provocative image.
