Hooniverse Alum Blake “Zeppelin Pilot” Rong recently penned a piece over on Kinja that set a number of automotive journalist cliches into list form. It’s a fun read, and one of my favorite parts was the inclusion of loving all things brown.
So, in his honor, I decided to track down some of the brown machines located around the floor of the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. Surprisingly, there were less brilliantly brown machines than I had expected… though that Porsche up top is a damn fine looker in this chocolate shade.
The lighting of this booth sucked. I can assure you that this is brown though, and not taupe or purple-ish, or something else.
This brown was almost drool worthy because it’s clearly inspired by milk chocolate being poured from a vat. It’s dripping with brown.
How about a tougher shade of brown?
Perhaps you prefer some delicious espresso? Or would it be expresso? Actually, feel free to slap me because I hate when people say expresso. Either way, this warmly hued Huracan is rather fetching.
…and this is the space where I expected a lot more brown to appear. It’s sorely lacking from the show this year.

I've got a long-standing tradition of avoiding Chicago Auto Show coverage until my dad I and take the day off and go (this will be our 25th year…), but Hooniverse meetup somewhere in Chicago before you guys split town?
Don't worry, our coverage will not be like other sites haha
We're pretty slammed with events so I don't know if a meetup is possible. I should plan those things in advance… but I know it would be me and three random dudes sitting in a bar staring at each other.
Does anyone ever get together for the Detroit show? I'd have gone (with camera) but it didn't work out this year. A Hoon meetup of some sort would be kind of neat, but yes, it would have to be coordinated well in advance.
That's a better kind of brown on the floor than the kind I witnessed at the Twin Cities Auto Show last year.
Someone brought their dog with them. And the dog decided to do a number-2 in the midst of the FiatChrysler exhibit…
Barra's dog maybe?
Very impressed by the flood of chocolate tones. The most beautiful concept in recent memory was in on that trend, too:
