It’s fun to turn your car into something that you truly love. That’s what the owner of this 1989 Chevrolet Corvette did, and they went a bit further than simply swapping out the wheels or modifying the exhaust. This car has been completely re-bodied and it includes parts from… a lot of other vehicles. This thing is wild.
The owner/builder posted it to Reddit’s WeirdWheels subreddit and includes a list of all the exterior changes. What you see before you includes the following:
The front bumper is from a BMW I8. Upside-down
The front splitter is the original C4 bumper cut in half and mounted upside down.
Headlights are off a Hyundai Kona.
Hood and fenders are off an AR-bodies Camaro stock car.
lower Side vents are from a Fiat X1/9.
The rear glass is off a TransAm.
Seats and fog lights are from a Polaris slingshot.
Fuel cap from a Dodge Challenger.
Rear quarter, carbon casting off a Corvette c3 rear clip
Side mirrors are an Arma RC car chassis.
Aero bits and rear bumper are carbon fiber and alumalite.
The taillight is made from Nanoleaf light panels
This is an amazing list of parts. Adding this all together to create the vehicle you see here honestly likely took a fair bit of work. None of this just bolts together… unless, of course, you don’t care how it bolts together. Still, there’s something pretty fun looking about this car. No one else has “one of these” and the person did it all themselves. Sure, the interior is quite a mess at the moment. But I have hope that it’s all going to come together. And I believe the owner is definitely having a lot of fun with their re-bodied Corvette.
I’m going to give props to the builder for putting this thing together. It looks fun, different, and really not as bad as one would expect if I just rattled off the above assemblage of parts.
