2025 Hyundai Tucson – One Take Review

The Tucson is Hyundai’s bestselling vehicle. In order not to mess with success, the year-over-year changes for this model are modest at best. But, for 2025, the Tucson did get one huge change, even if it’s not immediately visible.

That change is to the interior, and that change is quite amazing. Gone is an awkward gauge screen a protruding center stack with a litany of buttons. In their place is a slick swooping enclosure of screens. Below them are neatly arranged controls and an open console. The center armrest is very cool, with a very convenient place for your phone and cups. Ideal for daily driving.

Note: After fifteen years of writing car reviews, I have decided to venture into video. I am starting off slowly and rather amateurishly, so please bear with me. These videos can only get better (maybe). These will be one-take videos. I’ll only discuss the vehicle, and you won’t even have to look at me. Additionally, whatever I miss or get wrong in a video, I will supplement in writing. -KK

The one thing that I did not love was the shifter, as described in the video. Unlike everything else, I did not find it intuitive or ergonomic. But despite that, it was much better than a similar shifter from Mercedes, so I guess it could have been worse. That shifter also cleared space for that cool center console, so I am giving it a pass.

The chassis is great; very comfortable, with predictable and confident handling. With 187 horsepower, the engine feels a bit underpowered, however. It is smooth and willing to shoot up to the redline when directed, but twenty or so horsepower would be a welcome improvement to this ICE drivetrain.

Overall, this is a solid choice for a daily driver. The base Tucson starts at $28,605. This loaded Limited model with AWD had the MSRP of $40,045 with destination charges. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid models are also available.
