Weekend Edition – Sportscar Breakfast Club – The Japanese

The Miatas weren’t the only Japanese cars to grace the event with their presence. Some sports cars from the East were present, that I haven’t inspected too close ever before.

The Lexus GS in the lead photo isn’t there for its sporting pretensions, but the NSX earns its spot of grass with honour.

I’ve only ever seen one other NSX, a red one, and that was in traffic. This dark green one looked excellent, and some little birds whispering in my ear said it had been tuned to 530hp and 575Nm, reaching 100km/h in less than four seconds and 310km/h overall.

A Celica ST185 GT-Four also visited, for a short peek.

There’s somerhing about the gorilla-like face of these Celicas that I find likeable. The wheels couldn’t have suited it less well, though.

This Lexus SC was directed to the parking lot with the common cars. “You let a Camaro in the sportscar lot, didn’t you? “Yeah, but this SC weighs more than my apartment!”

A R33 GT-R also served. At first glance, I had thought it was a mere GTS-25T or something akin to that, since the “lesser” Skylines with bodykits are more common, but no – it’s the real Godzilla deal.

“Don’t judge it too harshly”, the owner said, “it’s in piss-poor state. I’ve only just rescued it from dodgy hands, and it needs a bit of work to get it looking right.” He wasn’t kidding, as the GT-R had a bit of rust on it. The weirder thing was the partially pearl effect paintwork, which had been resprayed quite randomly.

This stickerbombed 300ZX was rather random, too, and it puffed a bit of smoke.

In comparison, this 350Z was a tasteful affair with its modifications. I’m thinking the 350Z:s are almost underrated these days, as they’re still so new.

But I do have to say I like the two-door, pop-up-less S13 here the most, out of all the S13 bodystyles. Even if this one had had some improvements done to it, from the carbon-fibre bits to the mirrors.

Out of the card-inspired S13:s, this is the K’s Club version with the Super HICAS (High Capacity Actively Controlled Steering) rear steer system.

In case there was any wondering, comments are now open again in this article. The tick in the box has been sacked.

Was the NSX sponsored by the caliper company? I like the dark green, but it needs uncolored wheels and less showy brakes pronto.

Did you get to see if the Celica had a tow bar?

In my humble opinion, the 350Z is as much fun as a GT-R. Certainly much easier to relate to.

Love the wheels on that 350Z even if I don't love 350Zs…
