Weekend Edition – Dusty Corvette C6

In the same garage as the dusty Porsche 924S sits an equally dusty C6 Corvette. For you guys it might be almost yawn-inducing, but I rarely see one of these beauties, let alone unregistered and sitting dormant.

The Vette has probably been brought into the country semi-recently, used, and hasn’t been registered yet.

Quick and dirty snaps, borderline unusable, but they show how the Vette hasn’t been spending any time going anywhere recently. Perhaps it’s waiting for summer. You know I am.

And yeah, no matter how dirty or dusty anybody’s car is, I’m not touching it or drawing on it. I leave only footprints (on the ground, mind), and take only photographs.

Can you please document and blog about every car in that garage until you get kicked out by the management? We Yanks are just as fascinated with mundane Euro hatchbacks and minivans with 2.4 liter diesel engines.

Looks like it has Pennsylvania registration stickers in the windshield, so it's not new. Maybe newly imported though.

From Pennsylvania, Can tell from the Pa inspection stickers. I think I would have imported a better color.

Looks like the car next to it has some dust collection as well. Maybe they need a new filter for those air vents! hah

i kind of wonder, if you're importing a car from the USA like this – why not go for the Z06?
seems to me the cost of shipping and importation would raise the price to the point where the added cost of purchasing a Z06 is trivial compared to the total
given some of the imported cars that you've posted though maybe i'm just totally off base estimating that cost

I think outside EU imports are still calculated with the old evil tax formula where purchase price is completely ignored and they go by taxable value of a brand new car, or comparable vehicle if that particular car isn't sold new in the country. That value is then discounted by the number of months the car has been in use with a formula that hits 30% of tax at 25 years old.
So, even if your rich American uncle sold the Z06 to you for a dollar, if you ever plan on getting license plates for it get ready to pay through the nose for it. The only way to get away from this is to have lived and worked in the US, where you bought the car with money earned there and drove it as your personal car for a year. Then it qualifies as tax free personal import but you can't sell the damn thing for several years unless you want to become liable for the import taxes again.

It looks like it's been repaired in the front (or had a minor bump), judging from the fit of the bumper cover to the fenders, between the hood and the headlights.
