I had to leave work early today to meet my better half; ’twas a scheduled meeting to lend spousal support for a medical consultation, and I knew when to meet her and what it was for… but she neglected to tell me the place. I knew it was with a specialist, but that only narrowed it down to a few square city blocks. She also served me comeuppance by refusing to answer the phone as I asked for specifics; if you heard the succession of voicemails you’d have a case study in how one’s demeanor transforms from bemusement (Ha ha, you forgot to tell me where to go, dumbass!) to frustration (Dammit, I’ve driven all over God’s forsaken part of Frankfort for the last 15 minutes – where the #&*# are you?!)…
Only after punching my ticket to the doghouse (frequent flyer program, woo!) did I remember the new Frankfort Medical Pavilion, where I finally found a certain MN12 Thunderbird lurking about. As well as an all-too-rare glimpse of something else, which instantly and happily forgave all sins: apparently I was meant to be lost and late for a reason on AMC Day, of all days! Once we finally crossed paths, my wife even asked to make sure I saw it too. Yes indeed – and not for the first time actually, but only finally now sitting still. Too bad the rain and portico shade made for a crappy cellphoto, but beggars can’t violate HIPPA regs hold up old ladies in the doorway get choosy when faced with one of AMC’s Wackiest…
AMC: fostering marital bliss, Mitch’s Javelin Jailbait or no.

SX4, I will have you.
-
"SX/4" looks like hoon/1337 for "SeXY". This is not a coincidence.
I'm surprised I've never seen a Gremlin dropped on that chassis. If only I had the means…-
They came that way from the factory!
<img src="http://www.amccf.com/members/ak_eagle_kb_sivu.jpg">
…albeit without XJ alloys, presumably.-
Evil Tire Mounter Guy strikes again!
"You didn't say whitewalls in. This is industry standard."
Also, no way those tires are tucking into the rear wheelwells. Looks tuff though. -
I must be one of the few nutjobs that finds the original Gremlin quarter panel to be more attractive. Same body, same stampings… one minor change and it' totally neuters the character to where it's not the same car to me.
Don't get me wrong, I'd still have one with no hesitation whatsoever. But I'd be hard pressed not to fab a sheetmetal blank to evoke the Gremlin window (and embossing).-
+1. But yes, you are still a nutjob.
I used to dream of swapping Eagle running gear onto my old Gremlin or dropping it onto a CJ5 chassis and people mocked my rednecked visions. But now that we have Cutlass convertibles rolling on 24" wagon wheels, I get to feel like a visionary in my own rosy colored world.

I read it more like "Sex for…"
As in, –actually, never mind. I don't think finishing that sentence is go for anyone.

always liked these. thanks for reminding me!
-
Effing hot. Christ, I WANT this.
-
Hey! I have the same increasing manicness in repeated voicemails and missed calls too!! One of the most frustrating things in the world in my opinion…
tag win as well
now for the SX/4… it's just about perfect! it's like a modern day hoon had an old CRX and a Samurai and just wished to drive them both… FTW -
Remember, I know where you sleep at night and the food you eat, and all those great things.
But see, if you hadn't had such an adventure, look what you would have missed out on!!!!. -
(ps sorry the phone was *in* a certain MN12….)
-
Like the wrangler wheels, somehow looks right.
-
Not my first time thinking of these amazing cars today.
Y'all probably already know my favourite Hot Wheels car. -
The only way it could be more perfect is if it somehow had a Jeep 4.0 swapped in that was stroked with a 258 crank ( basically, a VAM Lerma bore/ stroke combo), and had a small turbo on it.
-
My buddies eagle wagon is close. 99 4.0efi motor, aw4 trans, 231 t-case and basically everything else that would fit from the 99 Cherokee that gave it's life. It is an awesome machine but I wish he would have built an SX/4 instead. I want the thing so bad anyways! LOL!

There used to be 5-6 AMC Eagles (probably none an SX/4) In a guys driveway beside a building I was working on a few years ago, this just inspired me to take a drive this weekend to see if they are still there (hopefully they arnt all iron puke powered)
-
I'd bet against that. Even though the Iron Puke was the "base" motor, the VAST majority of Eagles are sixes.
-
-
I really like the SX/4 and I like those wheels, but that's just too much tire without a slight lift. Same deal with Fuzzy's Kammback pic.
-
Thanks for the memories of when these used to roam the streets of the snow covered Canadian prairies:)
-
Stompers! I've been trying to remember what those little trucks were called for years. Something tells me the toys were more reliable than the AMC Eagle (but not quite as much fun to play with).
