The other day I stopped in to the quick-mart fuel-stop to grab a morning cup of joe, and this big Grand Touring Supra Turbo woke me up more than any caffeine ever could. As the resident MKIII Supra enthusiast, I must say I was delightfully impressed by this one. I have a couple of these myself, and neither look anywhere near this good (or run, for that matter). I’m not normally one for ‘Shelby-style stripes’ on non-Ford vehicles, but for some reason they worked on this one. The gunmetal paint and aftermarket 6-spokers worked well together. Attractive, and I’m a sucker for a good MA70 chassis.
This car is decked out in all of the cool Supra Turbo bits, including the relatively rare 3-piece rear wing, and rear “JDM” 2.5GT Twin Turbo emblems for the rear left quarter and ‘twin cam 24’ for the front grille. If it does, indeed, have the engine to back up those emblems, that would indicate a 1JZ-GTE swap, meaning at least 280 horsepower. That would make that vanity license plate pretty true. Kuikku, by the way, is the way you say ‘Quick’ in Japanese.
I have to commend the owner of this car for a nice, clean, tastefully modified example of one of my favorite big Japanese cruisers. This hasn’t been hacked apart and it hasn’t been slammed to the ground, so while it is fast, I’m willing to bet it’s still pretty comfortable. Even still, I know what I’d do to it in my dream car garage…

Okay, confession time. I think the only Supra I've actually seen was in "Fast and The Furious," which clouded my opinion on Supras because I've never seen a Supra like this one. (i.e. relatively stock.) This thing is actually beautiful; it reminds me of an BMW 8-Series/Porsche 924/928 mash-up. It's nice.
That car was a MKIV chassis. This is a MKIII.
For the first two generations (MKI and MKII), the Supra was a performance package on the Celica chassis, meaning the Celica Supra was basically a Celica with a straight 6 engine. MKIII is a pretty awesome car, but it's not really a sports car. It's more of a tourer like the 8-series and 928 you mentioned.

There was a pretty nice MkII in TFaTF for a second.
I disagree on the aesthetic merits of the stripes here, but I do love me some MKIII.
This was one of my favourite cars when I was a kid, turbocharged and with pop-up lights, it seemed incongrous that it should be built by Toyota.
I would buy one of these in a heartbeat if i didn't have to deal with the head-gasket issue AGAIN!
