Greg mentioned in The News last week the story of an attempt to beat the previous world record of Guinness Book of World Records World’s Largest Parade of Pickups. This was a promotion undertaken by RFDTV and their new Rural Radio XM channel, and it was, by all counts, wildly successful. The previous record of 273 pickemups was set last year at Dresden Raceway in Ontario (that’s in Canada). I’m happy to report that the record was not only beaten, but positively crushed. Over 500 pickups of all sizes and configurations lined up for what must have been the largest starting grid in the history of closed-circuit race tracks.
Taking their places on the grid.
I would consider an El Camino a car first, but that’s just me. Still great to see one so nice.
I see lots of trucks I would love to drive. How about you?
Sitting in Turn 4, waiting to take the green flag. Love that five-window Chevy.
It wasn’t a race, of course; it wasn’t even fast. Speed was limited to just 5mph (my truck idles faster than that!), and drivers had to keep 10 feet between them. Still, the sight, sound, and smell of 500 trucks rolling past the yard of bricks must have been quite the sensation.
Did any of you make it to Indy this weekend? Have any photos to share?

All those trucks and not a Commanche in sight! 🙁
Yes, but I do see a Willys jeep. Apparently they let just anyone into these events. LOL
technically that Willys is a 1/4 truck.
"…in Ontario (that’s in Canada)."
You keep saying that as if we're supposed to know where, or indeed what, "Canada" is.
Someplace near LA.

Ah, excellent. It made no sense as the one in Oregon.

Wait, I thought Canada was that place that was like Washington, but has the metric system. Are you trying to tell me Oregon doesn't use the metric system?
I'm from Western and/or Southern Oregon. How would I know what they do in Eastern Oregon?
You're right. I don't even know where Canada is. It's probably in Orange County.
Canada is indeed near Los Angeles, but is properly called La Canada: <img src="http://www.lacanadaflintridge.com/grphcs/header-top-cham.jpg" width="300"> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Ca%C3%B1ada_Flint…

My son and I went out to the museum that day to look at the race cars for the first time (he's 4 in September). Walked out to see the parade. It was a real special day.
It's good you enrolled him in pre-hoonigarten. You can't start that education early enough.
Good blog about trucks and their race. It is very exciting and dangerous. Thank you for such a wonderful blog.software internationalization
