The Junkman Trailer Will Make You Heart the '80s

After making the original Gone in 60 Seconds, that ’70s paean to screeching tires and wanton destruction, H.B. Halicki went back to the well for 1982’s The Junkman. Less well known than GI60S, it follows a similar theme of car chases and spectacular crashes. Halicki once again fills both lead role and director’s chair, and the results of both efforts leads one to believe that he probably shouldn’t have overextended.

Still, if you can get past the hostage-level acting the movie has some awesome cars (Berlinetta Boxer anyone?) and great chase/crash scenes. I haven’t been able to find the movie available for legit streaming anywhere, but you can check out the trailer after the jump. This time, he’s driving for his life!

Daring blimp stunts. That's what Hollywood is missing today.

If you think that's bad, you need to check out Deadline Auto Theft, which was basically a mish-mash of footage from GI60S and Junkman. It's so horrible that it starts to redeem itself with cheesiness.

So if you watch the intro to the Junkman, where he has all the models on the shelf, there's a yellow vette. I own that exact car.
