This week on the Cammed & Tubbed podcast, we’ve got Jason back from Hawaii to discuss stuff with Cam and Brad. The year is winding down, so it’s time to talk about Car of the Year stuff, and our end of year episode. Brad had some 912E project updates. Cam moved his Mustang into the new garage, and dealt with some winter driving. Brad berates Hooniverse News Editor Greg for not diving in face first to a country-wide road trip, while Cam and Jason try to get him to spend thousands of dollars in prep work. You’ll probably enjoy it, so go listen already!

The next episode is our typical Question Tuesday episode, this one is just Cam and Brad this week. It continues to boggle our collective minds that we get so many great questions from all of our excellent listeners. Keep sending them along, we love answering them. Thanks for playing the game with us!

Unfortunately, no matter what happens to the EPA, I don’t think we could see a return of the Panther (or any BOF car). In the Panther’s specific case, the St Thomas assembly plant has been torn down, I believe the tooling was worn out anyhow, and I think getting an evolution of a (now) 37 year old platform to meet modern safety standards is a much bigger hurtle than getting a 20ish year old powertrain through emissions and fuel economy standards (although a Coyote or Ecoboost powered P71 would be appealing).
As far as the muscle car dying out, the spirit is arguably just moving to a more expensive price bracket. AMG Benzes have long been compared to muscle cars (they’re a bit hairy and shouty). And despite being a 2-seat sports car, the Jag F-Type is much more concerned with theatrics than getting around a race track.
I kind of agree with Cam and Jason about Greg’s truck. If you’re gonna drive a car across the country, at least buy a new set of tires and top off any fluids.
Don’t worry, I totally plan on getting new tires before the drive and checking all the fluids I can. I drove it a few months ago when I was out there and it all feels solid. I’m ignoring Brad’s advice of doing nothing 😛
I didn’t say do nothing…
I said get an AAA membership.
