What would a classic auto racing event be without representation from Italy? It would sorely lacking, that’s what. The Silverstone Classic certainly was not lacking. From Fiats to Ferraris, the sexy styling and bright colors proudly proclaimed, “Guardate noi!” Click through for the photo dump.
Highlights from the race participants included this lovely Alfa Romeo Giulia.
How about a 1970 Ferrari 512? A rare bird, indeed.
This photo was just too cool to not post. While it isn’t necessarily of a particular Italian car, there are at least a couple of Maseratis in there.
This Maserati, in particular, was a special kind of beautiful. It’s like an Italian factory midget racer.
The sign reads “Fiat “Otto Vu” 1954 MK2. One of only 28 made. This is the only one known to be in the UK. The 2.0 litre V8 was the only V8 Fiat ever made.”
1961 Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Spider.
One thing can be said for the Italians – they do build beautiful cars. This Maserati 250F had wonderful lines. It did not participate in the racing action, but it looked like it was going 150 MPH while sitting still.
This mint green Dino in a sea of Ferrari red was a real highlight.
The Iso Grifo was an interesting beast that, to be honest, I had never heard of until I saw a few of them in person at Silverstone. They were Italian built with big, American V8 engines. Production lasted from 1963 until 1974.
How often do you get a chance to see an F40 and an Enzo in one place? Thanks to the Silverstone Classic for this great photo op. All images: ©2014 Hooniverse/Scott Ith, All Rights Reserved
