Spring arrived yesterday at around 4 in the afternoon. Tea time to those in the British Empire. Yesterday was also supposed to bring the Queen’s English British Car Show, at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA, but an unseasonably wet weekend put the kibosh on those plans. By the time we got there, only about five intrepid Land Rover owners stood vigil over the sodden and unnavigable expanse of Woodley’s verdant fields. No one else was foolish enough to test the damp weather capabilities of classic Lucas electrics, and hydroplane-ability of era-appropriate bias-ply tires.
I haven’t spoken to the organizers yet to see if the show will be rescheduled, or if we’ll just have to wait until next year when hopefully Spring won’t arrive like a. . . Jaguar.

What's that? English weather?
Never mind.
Was that at Englishtown Speedway?
Dead-for-28-years Orange County International Raceway in Irvine, CA.
The rain didn't hit down here until about 6pm, but I guess you guys got dumped on all day.
Enough rainfall in my former neighborhood not far from Woodley Park to collapse the roof of my favorite Big Lots store…! http://www.dailybreeze.com/latestnews/ci_17664151
That's a shame. I wonder what they'll do with their damaged inventory? They'll probably have to find someone who specializes in liquidating pallet quantities of merchandise to sell it for them.
How very "meta" would THAT be…?
So, I don't need to feel bad for deciding it was pointless to brave the 405 up to Woodley Park and slog through the mud?
I was trying to fly out of John Wayne last night and all flights out of Burbank and San Diego were canceled. It was a raging storm.
The same storm system that soaked Southern California has been causing gale force winds here in Southern Arizona. I saw a guy park a pickup truck loaded with panels of that blue styrofoam insulation, and I really wanted to see what happened when he took his tiedowns off and tried to unload it, but he got smart and just drove away.
double damnit! once again i find out about these things a day late!
