Okay, so lets start by getting the “It’s a 914” comments out of the way. It’s a gorgeous Willow Green 1972 Porsche 914 four cylinder with extremely rare chrome four-lug wheels. This car looks to have been originally delivered in North America, but the person who posted this picture to Facebook lives in the Netherlands, boasting about the arrival of his recent acquisition.
The thing I’m asking about is the red thing with gold and black wheels that can be seen at the top of the photograph. I haven’t got the foggiest idea what this thing is, or where it came from. Rather than waste any more of my time on it, I figured it’d be quicker to throw it to the Hoony collective, because you lot will certainly come up with the answer faster than if I were to research for hours on end. Heck, one of you probably owns a copy of whatever that thing is. It looks to me like some kind of low-slung sports car, but I know of nothing with 8-lug modular wheels like that. Maybe it’s something hand built in a shed somewhere and we’ll never know?

Edit: Marc has shown a picture of what the thing on top is, but I’m not telling. I think it’ll still be fun for you to guess. Good luck.

They are probably four lug wheels with two offsets and four fake caps. Sort of looks like a Lotus to me if I squint.
-
What the hell?
-
Is it a car, or some kind of weird forklift or skid steer thing?
-
It is a “car” of sorts. I’ll tell you that it does not have 4 wheels.

I’d be a bit put off if my car was tied down by hooks in wheel.
-
Right? I felt similarly.

…still beats using the sway bars…

8 bolt wheels, split rims, heavy looking tyres and tied down by hooking the wheels… I’d guess something industrial or designed for rough roads.

Powered by 16 flesh-covered pistons. -
widened wheel arches. No doors.
8 lug beadlock wheels like an offroader (but road tread).
hood latch. (considering the taillight it must be a mid-engine car).

Conclusion: It´s a fiberglass bodied, mid-engined, DIY drag car. -
So are we ever going to know what it is?
