On this date in 1966 Australia decimalised their currency. That standardized the kangaroo continent on a base-10 monetary system and replaced the former Australian Pound with the almighty Aussie Dollar. The new notes still advocated god saving the queen, however.
We’re celebrating this auspicious occasion with a Friday Mystery Car, and while it has absolutely nothing to do with Southern Hemisphere monetary policy, it’s still fun to note such a major change in pecuniary rules. One set of rules that isn’t changing is that for our weekly contest, and that encompasses providing the make, model, year-range, and likely engine under the hood for the win. So get to it, after all, time is money.
