Mystery Car

Well, I am very disappointed and rather perplexed. How did anyone not get this. When the Mastery Car is fragment of a taillight an obscure one-off it gets identified within minutes. But here was a vehicle as common as a dog, an iconic American vehicle sold and known the world over, and no one could identify it. Last week’s Mastery Car even had a damn television show named after it, for eff’s sake. How did you miss it?
Again, I am disappointed. But despite there being no clear winner, there still is The Person of the Moment! award. And that person is… me! For stumping you with something so simple. Bow to me!
Today we once again keep it simple. It’s so simple I expect more than just a make and model. Please don’t let me down again.

Here it is. The vehicle that none of you so-called automotive experts and enthusiasts could identify. It’s not some 80’s euro-trash yuppy mobile. It’s not a 30’s one-off grand-tourer. It’s not a concept. It’s not a racecar. It’s a damn Jeep Wrangler! The Renegade!
As punishment you are forbidden from wearing any of your BlipShift tee-shirts all weekend. I realize that for many of you it may mean that you won’t be allowed into some places or you won’t get service. And you deserve that.

Never understood that particular styling exercise on Jeep’s part. Integrating the bumper with the fenders gives the thing a fat lip to go with flared fenders that look more like chubby haunches than broad shoulders.
But good call on picking a close up of a trim specific part that doesn’t jive with the rest of the model’s considerable ethos. Bumpers on Jeeps just don’t look like that, unless they do.

Wearing “Always allow pop-ups” right now, but it’s 30C anyway, will undress asap anyway.

Well done Kamil – I never gave up Googling, going so far as to try to figure out weird Eastern European “things” that I’ve never heard of, yet I never got it. I hate this game and I’m not playing any more…
    Is it a Stutz Blackhawk?

That’s because those Jeep bumpers are ugly and of the 10% of the buyers that didn’t get a dealer installed optional bumper, 90% of those had the bumper replaced by the second owner.

Solve the problem, incur wrath. Fail to solve the problem, incur wrath.
It’s not as if I want to be reminded that I work in academia…

Hooniverse is like being married – always wrong.

I thought that kind of looked familiar, but couldn’t quite place it. One of my coworkers has one of those Jeeps and I park next to it every day.

That’s what I was thinking as well, but it appears the Crown Vic uses an all chrome roof hoop, while the mystery car’s is painted.

How about Mercury? I’m assuming they had a similar model before or alongside the Sun Valley?

          No and no.

Is that an aftermarket bodykit? They didn’t sell that model here.
This week… possibly some variation of the mid-50s Ford Crown Vic?

      It’s 100% original.
I don’t know where, if anywhere else, besides US this vehicle was sold.
      (^^that’s a hint…)

Sorry I was referring to the Jeep! It seems too fibreglassy to be factory

Aha, I think I missed the significance of the Renegade name – thanks! Quite the contrast to the new Renegade hey?

Alright, last guess (last gasp?) – ’78 Mustang II with a T-Top?
