Mystery Car

Do you know when the War of 1812 took place? I know, it was a trick question- it was in fact, on today’s date. The year however escapes me. There’s no escaping the fact that on the same date this year, a Mystery Car contest takes place.
That’s a lot more fun than a war, and the casualties should be far fewer. All we ask is that you give the make and model and then we’ll raise the white flag. Okay then, once more into the breech!

I tried to make it hard this week. That being said, if the image were pulled out just a hair more it would be pretty obvious to some.

Well it’s green, anyway. Unless Robert PShopped in the color.

Non-descript green with slight rust and no distiguishing feature in the metal…
TJ Jeep Wrangler Sahara. 4.0L I-6 if the vehicle is to be redeemable.
And yes, I am almost definitely 100% wrong.

ok here’s how far i have come, what kind of car has 3 different panels come together like this at what appears to be the rear decklid next to the edge of a rather boxy turn down the fender? the upper 2 panels appear to be plastic while the other is metal. the lack of other panel gaps is what leads me to rear deck lid on a car with a removable hardtop, and not one of too much quality. plus the banter about the war of 1812 had me looking at British cars, then i noticed it might be in a shade of BRG. so i say it is a 80’s era British car with a removable hardtop in place. /end ramblings of a crazy person/

-Did you know that I have a War of 1812 sticker on the laptop I am using to type this? Not from the War, of course, but from a Gov of Canada sponsored exhibit I visited a while back.
-The War of 1812 actually happened at least three times on this date as the War lasted from 1812-1815
-It’s because of the War of 1812 that the US has “The Star-Spangled Banner”
    -I am a War of 1812 Nerd

Same square wheel arch as a 90’s Jeep Cherokee but even the 2-door doesn’t have any panel joins like that…
