Long Shots: BMW Poliezi 330

Now this olelongrooffan has lately been somewhat remiss at keeping up my end of having possession of the keys to the vault that is Hooniverse. Well, I intend to change that up thanks to the esteemed Mr. Hanzel out there in the City By The Bay. (more about that shortly.) Anyway, earlier today this olelongrooffan stopped by my local drug store to check out their Hot Wheels offerings pick up some toothpaste and spotted the blue Bentley seen in the above image. I snapped an image of it with my oledailydriverimagetaker and figured it would factor into something here in the Hooniverse. And that is it. A Bentley parked in close proximity to a SC1 Saturn, IIRC. Yeah, that is the FantasyLand I live in.
So what does that Bentley have to do with a BMW Polizei? Well my fellow Hoons, you will have to make the jump to find that association.

So after this olelongrooffan snagged a Datsun 240Z and a Toyota 2000GT to award to some random kid I meet, or a fellow Hoon, because no one can have to many Hot Wheels, I sauntered back to my longerroof and spotted this Polizei logoed BMW 330 and had to capture a few images of it to share with my fellow Hoons.

Now I am sure there is a whole generation of Hoons who will get the connection of this license plate surrounds but Hoons of my generation have no idea. But I do know this, back when I moved down to Collier County, Florida back in the late 1980’s Ford supplied the local Sheriff’s Office with a bunch of then new gen Lincoln Town Cars to utilize as daily driver squad cars. Yeah the first Collier County Sheriff’s patrol car this olelongrooffan spotted after moving here to toney Naples, Florida from my humble hometown up in the Ozarks was a Lincoln Town Car. It was  a long way from Sheriff Mickey Owen’s tobacco spit stained Ford Torino unmarked sedan.

Now I realize this is not a true cop car by any stretch of the imagination but it was a pretty funny siting that day. I’m not 100% sure what the significance of the zip tying of this piston and rod to the rear tow hook is but it was rather interesting looking.
IMG_2929
Yeah, it appears to this olelongrooffan that some local tuner shop decided to fancy up this rather pedestrian 330 with some lime green decals and LED lights out front to show off some of their capabilities. Over all, not that trashy, if you’re into that sort of thing.
IMG_2930
However, this olelongrooffan suspects the esteemed Ms. Martin would boot this for not having the tow hook out front labeled as such.

And just ending up this Long Shots with apologies to Bradley.

Spelling errors in the word "Polizei" are easily made… Isn't that right, LongRoofian?

There was a Polente car in a TV show for children around 1985, driven by Lt. Dog ("as in Cat"), but the number plate gives away that that 2CV (all nicknamed Ente, duck, in german – now you get the joke) was in service for the police of the city Kiel. Not the most fearsome thief hunter, rather more a PR thing I guess.

Exactly! I still use the phrase "That won't be cheap" when catching nanoop jr. red-handed.
And thanks to your link I now know that the singer of the title song was Mrs. July 1982…
The internet is a remarkable place.

As someone who enjoys lowered cars, this is just the embodiment of every stereotype. A Stanceworks forum member's worst nightmare.
    Sticker-tuned to the max!

What a shame. I had a sedan version of that car for a couple of years. Really wish I hadn't had to sell it. Judging by the wheels and the bumpers, it looks to be a ZHP 300. Those had a 6 speed and a little hotter exhaust cam for a few more horsepower. And the suspension was tuned a bit better than the standard. Oh well, to each their own. I don't begrudge this guy's choice of what to do with his car, I just miss mine.

I don't know if it's specifically what the seventh piston is, but 'random crap hanging off the rear bumper' is a JDM tyte styling affectation of… crap, probably a decade ago now. It's to visualize the lateral G-forces your car is sustaining if a picture of it is taken while in mid-dorifto. Although I wouldn't be surprised if A) someone who does this has never heard of that explanation or B) the explanation is not actually true.
