How do you top the stately elegance of a Mercedes Typ 380 and two sophisticated ladies? Well, in this 1934 photo by Zoltán Glass – commissioned by Daimler-Benz AG – it took posing them in front of a Junkers G 38. Specifically it was the Generalfeldmarschall Von Hindenburg G38. The Junkers plane was notable for having a blended wing design that allowed mechanics access to the four engines for repairs, while the plane was in flight. Japan’s Mitsubishi licensed the design for their Ki-20 transport/bomber.
