Last Call: The best computer for a new tune in 2020

By Colby Buchanan May 5, 2020

Whoever said ECU tunes have to be expensive is a liar. As you can see, all you need is a Tote & Go Laptop which you can get used for only $23! Now I haven’t personally used Tote & Go, but quarantine is making me so bored you might catch me adding a flame map to the Z with this bad boy. Plus, the photo shows it working on a BMW and you know they only buy the nicest parts so it has to be good right? So what are you still doing here reading this and not putting one in your shopping cart?

    1. That GMT400 is from the “added a chip” era of aftermarket EFI performance.

  1. Low concentration levels at work and I am trying to counter give in to that by rummaging for cars online.

How bad could this be? A 1966 Minx which needs tech inspection, a stone’s throw from my MIL’s house, 3400 $:

Or, to soothe my botched Century-purchase, a 1997 Honda Legend that looks perfect and comes with outstanding maintenance records. This would be a hard sell as a replacement for our rusting 2002 Camry in the house council, and it sits waaaaaay up North for 6700$. But…just look at this gorgeous East Asian seriousness!

Comes with an automatic, but Legends are ultra rare in Norway and my big-reliable-business-car-craving is not about performance.

    1. What the…2003 Hyundai Centennial, the only one in Norway:

This was the first Equus, or Mitsubishi Proudia (not making this up). The car was imported by shipping company Wilhelmsen after they landed a contract with Hyundai. It has the Sigma V6 engine that was also available in the Kia Sedona…I know only one guy who owns such a van. 😛

edit Dæng, I just called on the Centennial. Needs a belt service, but otherwise…might buy it on friday.

      1. Does the Esso (Exxon) gas station attendant’s hat come with the Centennial? You can’t include something like that in your advertisement and then be all, “What, this old thing? Now how did that get in there?”

    2. Back in the pre virus days the last historic races I went to had 2 1960s race cars with supercharged Rootes engines, they are tough.

    3. Ooh, beautiful Minx. What’s involved in the inspection, and how certain is it to pass?

      1. It’s a pretty comprehensive safety inspection, basically. Rust and brakes tend to be the issues that are hard to pass.

But…turns out I am getting the Centennial. Just waiting for additional photos of the underside, as nothing here kills cars as fast as rust. I am as excited as a small kid!
