Last Call – Purple PT Eater Edition

You think that yellow hood symbolizes something?

Well I saw the thing comin’ out of the road
It had the one yellow stripe, two big scoops
I commenced to shakin’ and I said “mother of God”
It looks like a purple eater to me
It was a one-striped, two-scooped, flyin’ purple PT eater
One-striped, two-scooped, flyin’ purple PT eater
One-striped, two-scooped, flyin’ purple PT eater
Sure looks scary to me!
Well he came down to Lowe’s, and he parked in a space
I said “Mr. Purple PT Eater, don’t hit me”
I heard him say in a voice so gruff
I wouldn’t hit you cuz you’re so tough
It was a one-striped, two-scooped, flyin’ purple PT eater
One-striped, two-scooped, flyin’ purple PT eater
One-striped, two-scooped, flyin’ purple PT eater
Sure looks ugly to me!
(clarinet solo, eye gouging commences)

      Hi BB,
It's my wife's sister that drew that, that's her favorite sort of thing to draw, funny comic looking things. Also she drew in the past all these fairies in nature settings, I thought those looked really cool. She also draws really accurate portraits, like for Aga's friend she used a photo of that lady's kids that Aga had taken and made a very nice big drawing of them for her to put on the wall. She did a very nice one of Jake to

I'm glad you got over your flu. It sounded like quite a nasty little bug. We've had 4 nights of rain/storms in a row and I'm pretty happy about it. It should help our drought situation and hopefully cool us off. Unfortunately a lot of the country still needs the rain though. Here is a picture of my parents tree. It was a big willow and was lots of fun to play under when I was smaller.

Cosmos is interesting and my first thought in the first episode was how philosophical Sagan can sound. He's definitely a thinker. It should be interesting to see what FOX does with the new Cosmos.
Have an excellent weekend. You deserve it after the flu!

haha! Excellent license plate on the GT! Are there license plates in Forza 4 or did you painstakingly create that in the editing mode? I have a friend that is all into the artwork of Forza. He made recreations of my Camaro and our other friends older Supra. He even got the pieces of missing trim, fading paint, scratches and dings all incorporated into his design. It's pretty neat. He even tuned them to have similar horsepower. Such a fun game for a lot of different reasons.
I hope you eat something delicious this weekend!

Ha Tower, a guy came by and said I had 15 minutes until they switch off power, but in fact I had two! I did not get all the computers off in time πŸ™ Anyway I only had one not come back right away. I'll now continue…
(BB)… of Jake too. I have never seen Mad Men, though it looks interesting. I tend to pick more funny or edutational stuff from netflix. There is some TV series I will try watching next, I forgot the name, it's more humor, but netflix keeps recommending it to me, so I will give it a shot, but I will finish Cosmos first. I called it a flu, but the doctor said it was viral, but it was really flu like. I'm glad it's over! Have fun in the rest of your summer!
      Hi Skay,
I'm taking Kevin to the doctor today after work πŸ™ Since the evening before last he has not been feeling great. So I think he might have it. Yesterday was rough for him. He has had orchestra camp all week and there was a concert last night (in the rain outside). But before the concert there was a last practice and the conductor wanted the bassists to spin the basses in one part. Kevin did it, and it fell over and broke! He was really scared, did not show it, but later that night he told me everything. We pay insurance on the bass, so it should not be too bad, poor guy though. He did great at the concert though, the director of orchestra worked with Aga and a company to get another one rented in time. Glad you got your sweet (new place no more of that silliness) ride back! I made a joke about Gosia getting so many of the details right, particularly the crown, Aga was not happy about that. I'm glad I did not point out the awesome voluptuous figure now! Anyway we all love the image. Gosia leaves today πŸ™ She made some cute images for the kids to open later in the evening, they are really sweet, like snake and giraffe. I'll miss that kid, he sleeping past noon and all. I got to say goodbye on account of the power outage, went home for a bit, boy is her suitcase heavy!

I think I need to cyberstalk a bit to let FB know I'm interested, I'll do that later. That's really something that image! Did your father already cut it up? We have had some rain recently as well, and it's badly needed here too. The corn looks pretty short to me in particular. I saw that PV444 with the B4B engine yesterday! I bet you know how excited I was! I'll try and get more images online later. Oh man I have to stop, now they are messing with the network, later πŸ™

Kevin has sinus infection, but doctor says it is viral, so we have to wait it out with rest. Jake is pretty miserable too today, but Kevin is the worst off. Anyway the car show, I rode my bicycle there since there is construction near to where the concert was and parking would be a pain. After that I rode to the next town over to see the PV since in he morning I was not expecting it to be at the show on account of the storms. The above photo was taken by "Smithe937" on May 9th in Chicago, but I saw it before, it made me question that whole lightning striking water thing and that you explained so well as the tallest things on the even height surface of water being people on boats.

TowerofPower……….I didn't make that Ford GT Forza pic. A young man new to Oppositelock made it, as well as the one below. I'm flattered. My best weekend food was Papa Murphy's chicken, artichoke, bacon, spinach Delite pizza. I'm really hooked on them. I had a very quiet weekend. I hope you had something good to eat.

smz, szm, sic…………How are you feeling this fine Monday? How about the kiddies? That flu sounds like it's nasty, nasty. I'd rather have the 24-hour stomach flu and get it over with. Too bad about Kevin and the bass. That's sad. As I told TofP, I had a quiet weekend with church and cleaning house. That is all.

      Hi Skay,
Jake and me are feeling really great. I still have a bit of a cough, but Kevin is pretty miserable still. I hope he gets better soon. He felt pretty great last evening and we all took a bike ride, that might have been a mistake. Like he got himself to tired and then he had fever again last night. Today is the first time I ate food with flavor in a long time, yippie! It was gyros. I am also soundly 202.x lb now, so I guess that is something. i watched some Olympic women's beach volleyball this weekend, I like that sport immensely πŸ™‚ I have dentist appointment later today, Aga tells me there's a new dentist at our location, she's not gentle πŸ™
      Hi Tower,

I'd put a smile on my face and go right back to sleep. The trees are so happy this morning. How did your dental appointment go? I prefer gentle dental, thank you very much. I have a dental appointment next week for a cleaning. It's Taco Tuesday, and there's a possibility I'll go to Mexican restaurant for Taco Tuesday. Of course, this is where I have their chicken, avocado salad with many kinds of fruits. I hope your family is healing from that flu.

      Hi Skay,
So did you have healthier tacos in rabbit food form? We had tacos yesterday, ha! but I did not eat, I got very hungry at work and had a second lunch of left overs around 3:30PM. I have them here for today. I did have some of that turtle cake yesterday, delicious! It not made from the animals, just has the same ingredients of Nestle turtles candy πŸ™‚ We got Kevin antibiotics, did not have to go to the doctor again, done over phone. He is doing better this morning but still sick the poor guy πŸ™ The dentist appointment went great! I really like the new lady. So she is rough, but not with the teeth, like she pulls my head around in different orientations to get to different spots instead of asking me to turn various ways. I think that's what Aga did not like, I bet she could just tell her the next time. She found two spots where I got fillings, not cavities but where my gum had worn away from when I used to brush too aggressively, it has helped a ton with eating cold foods, the other dentists never did anything when I mentioned it, said it was a filling that was doing it. Also she is young and young medical people seem to encourage involving you more in your health stuff, so I like that too. She showed me the x-rays and explained a bunch of things, I have some bone loss in jaw, she showed between which teeth to floss lower down to better deal with it. Also in an upper three spots where to use this more brush looking floss tool.
<img src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5085/5379151589_ebb9fc66a6.jpg&quot; width="375" height="500" alt="Engine Rebuild"> I'm really liking the Datsun drive posts! The only problem is it is making me jones for a 510 Wagon really really badly! I read this great book once when I was looking for an old car before Aga found Astrid, "How to Keep Your Datsun … Alive." It was filled with great illustrations by Peter Aschwanden like the above. Also that image is a link to more. Anyway, I went to a cruise night yesterday. Fred called me that he was there so I left and got there. It was neat. people remembered me from last year! Harry in particular I am glad he did. He drives a Model A and is really positive guy. Anyway he had a new engine in it this year. He calls it now the "fire engine" cause he got it out of a truck that was in a fire! You could still see some of the roofing tar embedded in the head even though he spent all winter trying to get rid of it all, it seeped through the new paint, nice character and story there. He can drive 45MPH now with this less tired engine, awesome!

See I would have expected you to be a more diving that swimming fan myself. One of my friends back from HS posted this on her wall yesterday, then her mom replied basically, glad he's 18, cause of all I would teach that boy! And then it just got more crass from there with all these women replying, the COTD trophy posts show restraint and humor in spades by comparison! Man women are funny πŸ˜‰ Anyway I watch a little, i like the volleyball, beach and indoor. But NBC is not doing a very good job of broadcasting unless you have cable or satellite, so not so much as in years past. I was sick too, I tried to watch some of a women's soccer game with USA at a friend's house when dog sitting, but just could not finish I felt so bad at that point. I typically watch more soccer, oh well. Kevin is doing way better, just some last bit of gunk he is coughing, but only when he wakes-up really. He even went with a friend to Great America yesterday and had a blast. I hope your luncheon went well and the food was good., I bet I know what you ate at PM's later πŸ˜‰ We have a fun weekend planned, first I am going to that car restoration place, it's an hour away. Astrid is really clean for it, but I had to drive to work today. There is this rule like we are not supposed to use out personal cars for work, but due to funding our division has ONE minivan to share. So all day I was waiting and it never came. I had ridden my bike. It's pretty ridiculous. Other divisions have a lot, and there are all these small cars for the whole lab, but get this they are only for off site trips! All the bureaucracy is pretty annoying sometimes. I told my boss I am taking my car and he is going with me so we both get in trouble if something happens. He wants to wait more, we'll see what happens. Oh got sidetracked there πŸ˜‰ Anyway after that Aga and Michelle are going to a concert, Big Time Rush. I have no idea who that is, I am assuming a boy band, so will not learn more. They are going each with a friend πŸ˜‰ After that on Sunday we go to the beach with a bunch of friends, and then Curiosity lands on Mars! Exciting!

At least swimming takes more time. None of that sounded right. My lunch yesterday was at another Mexican restaurant, and I had their beef taco salad in a flour tortilla bowl with mild green chili. It was really good, but I couldn't eat it all. I've never heard of Big Time Rush either. It sounds like you have a full weekend planned………have fun. No time for games now, sorry, vacuuming and a whole lot more now, but need your advice. Have you ever been to the Pike Peak Hill Climb? They rescheduled it, right for the time of our trip. I think it is basically a week of events. What would be a good way for us to see that? It might just be my FiL and me. We could rent a car most likely if we needed to. Also how does it affect other goings on, like will we have trouble getting around Colorado Springs some days or anything? If you don't know, do you know someone that could help, or a good resource online?

Here's PPIHC link which has schedules, times, etc. http://www.usacracing.com/ppihc You won't have problem getting around Colorado Springs area, but on US 24 West to Manitou Springs and beyond (Ute Pass) to Pikes Peak entrance, there will be traffic on practice days, as well as race day. Also, Ute Pass is where the Waldo Canyon Fire started and if there is rain, there's a good chance it'll be closed if there are mudslides. It has been closed several times to blade the mud off. I know a couple of guys who go to practice (8, 9 and 10 August this year) instead of the actual race. Once you get on the mountain, there's no getting off until the race is over. You might consider going to a practice. You might call or email somebody under "Contacts".
          I hope this helps you.

Dang we leave Thursday and will just get to Denver late on Friday πŸ™ i had thought it all began on Sunday and went on for a week. I have a big meeting I organized on Wednesday at work too so it would be pretty insane to try and make that last day of practice, but I can see now because of the early and late hours how desirable it would be vs the race itself. Also fan fest is full, makes it seem you need tickets even though it's free. I am still going to try for the race itself, I'll call my FiL when it's reasonable hours there in Poland. Do you know anyone going from Denver area, like maybe someone on oppo said they were? Back to cleaning house!

That was funny two sentences you wrote as well. I stayed-up until 3AM this morning watching the Mar Curiosity landing, it was worth it! That above is a link to NASA MSL images, it's very nice. That picture in particular is really something, MRO (it orbits Mars) took it during the landing when the drag chute was deployed. Maybe it's all the Cosmos I have been watching, but man isn't that something! A car like thing made by humans landing on another planet and photographed as it's happening by another man made satellite, you know it's really a sort of making us feel smaller all the stupid crap people spend so much attention on when you have something like that to put it all in better perspective but with a strong sense of pride, like humans working together, all over the world in fact did something pretty danged amazing, another step! Anyway here's an image of my computer screen last night as it was happening and the first image came back. You can just make out the wheel in the B&W photo on the wall and in the realtime computer rendering on the right the Odyssey which grabbed the image which Curiosity sent to it and then relayed it back to earth, get this 14 minutes earlier – it's far away – Earth isn't even a speck. <img src="https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/s720x720/481987_874523076610_1099287247_n.jpg&quot; width="600">

First we stopped in a small town in Nebraska past Lincoln. Hotel was nice, we swam and watched a movie. Also that's where the photo of the kids is from with the silly faces. They had a drinks and snacks hour or two with beer and wine!
Next stop was Denver. There we ate a late breakfast at Snooze (I had the best corned beef hash ever) and then on to I think it was simply called City Park. But it was hot, Kevin was not feeling well, and I had a bit of metal in the passenger tire – so we did not stay too long. We got to the hotel and I asked front desk lady where to get tires fixed replaced. I went to Big O, they were great. Anyway a tattooed woman working there patched the tire. (I never had success doing that myself before.) Hotel was nice too, two stories with a kitchen and even a bed that flipped out of the wall like in old times movies, seriously! Also basketball court, played with the kids there. Oh anyway on the drive over Aga called the doctor and got medicine for Kevin, after the tire I picked it up. While there I got chocolates for the really great people at Big O.
<img src="https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/s720x720/549700_2280652753915_1704383593_n.jpg">So next day was Vail. We rented bikes and rode down! Aga and me twice! On the second trip we took the Big Mamba most of the way. it was so scary and dangerous seeming to us, but others had no problem. It was great fun. Then we ate pizza (I had artichoke) and drank CO beers (can't recall the name). Kids also played in a rocky stream. We thought tire was leaking, so after we got back I went back to Big O. Here is where the chocolate from before came in really handy, they spent more than an hour trying to figure it out, seriously I could see three of them constantly checking everything. It boiled down to the TPMS, they could not reset it, need Honda computer tool. But now I think it is broken simply.
Well I better cut this short actually, yikes. Okay other fun stuff. We went to Boulder and there we went tubing. Well the first time down everybody but me. I was the photo and video taker person after I parked a ways down (past the HS if that means anything). Aga and Michelle did not make it as far, to the library. Then I went tubing with her, a bit before the library. That was fun, though water was low. We also saw Spirited Away and a singer named Mieko at the red rocks amphitheater. It is cut into the rocks.
<img src="https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/s720x720/540461_2284099000069_1244468362_n.jpg"&gt; We hiked in red rocks canyon, over did it 6 miles. But the views were incredible. Also we hiked at a place called something like glacier park. Oh man was it something. It was like hiking over boulders at first, then we got to this amazing lake. You can see the glacier beyond it, we made it to there too.

At some point we had to switch hotels, cause Aga was able to get a deal at that fancy one only for the weekend. That's okay, you know we did not stay there much πŸ˜‰ So like from just S of Denver to just N. Let's see. That night I ate steak wit my FiL and explored downtown Denver for a bit. The steak was very good, also had CO beer. I can't remember the names, sorry. Very close to the Rockies stadium though. Oh Rocky Mountain National Park. That was a blast! First I think it was Estes Park we drove through. Beautiful town. We stopped for the kids to play in the park and enjoy the scenery. There was also a very nice old used car dealership, with a Sprite for sale for example. I really wanted to stop there, but no time. So at the park we got to Bear Lake and back, then we drove to the aleuvian flow. We hiked-up, was great, nice water fall, great big boulders. It's where a lake broke through above the mountain year years ago and exposed the rocks underneath. The firs are coming back first it seems. Then we took the gravel trail Old Fall River Rd. Oh man did I love that! We did it when I was a kid in boy scouts, ha! Then we made it up to the top I think it was called Alpine. Was a nice view, a glacier bowl. Also nice stores, made it in time for the ranger talk about lighting, etc. Then on to the old settlement at the west end. The lady gave an excellent tour, especially the two older kids were very interested. Was about a German immigrant family and what they all went through to homestead the area. Prohibition closed their pub and there was racism towards them after WWI that forced them out. Anyway, inspiring story. Oh yeah, we say tons of elk and deer along the trip. Even what I thought was a moose, but later learned was just a bull elk when I saw a real moose later at a zoo. Okay so then back, no time for the old mine. But back in Estes I think was this go cart place the kids played at. That is where the Elk were in that photo you asked about. Also we ate at a Polish place called Tatra Village on the way back. It was expensive and not really all that good sadly, but the family were a bunch of characters, sort of like mine. Polish families are funny. Like the grandmother would call her grandson an idiot. The cook (the daughter in law of the same woman) was curious about the Polish family so came by just to see us, The husband of the lady cracking stupid jokes, etc.
I have to stop for now, sorry.

@MZS: Your trip looked amazing, it must have been fun to see how majestic and beautiful CO is. I've never been there, but would love to visit one day. I hope all is well back home. Nothing new with me, just enjoying the weekend. That Buick you posted MZS, is very pretty. I think the design has aged quite well. Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say hello. P.S. I just wanted Funny Farm with my Dad and it always makes me want to get a MGA that the main character drives.

smz, zms, sun………How did you like driving up Pikes Peak? Just think how neat it would have been if it were still gravel. Did the elevation bother you or anybody? Some flatlanders get elevation sickness. The Cog Railway is an awesome ride up PP. It's so beautiful. Aga's pics are beautiful, as always, and I enjoyed all of them. Did you make it to the North Pole? What was your favorite part of your vacation? It sounds like your weekend was a lot of fun. I went to the mountains Sunday and noticed that some of the Aspen trees are barely starting to turn yellow. In fact, some kinds of trees in my town are starting also. Some of that may be from the dry weather we've had this Summer. Have a great Monday!

      Hi BB,
We've seen that movie too, it's sort of like two movies in one. Here's a crazy idea when you grow-up, move to CO! One of the tour guides in the rafting trip was from the town two over from where we live. He just decided he wanted to live in CO one day, maybe it was 16 years ago, and he has been there ever since. He does all sorts of tourist stuff during the year, mostly near to Canon city in the warmer months. Anyway, for a person with a sense of adventure it could work. Also lots of places to take photos, and I saw a community college there outside Canon City too, win-win πŸ™‚ The Buick was pretty, I saw a great one yesterday too, I'll try and get a photo up in a day or two. Ever seen any old Packards, oh man are those classy cars!
      Hi Skay,
We decided that NP seemed too much of a tourist trap kind of place, so did not go, also did not have time and decided on the Zoo in CS instead, sorry πŸ™ We did drive by it though. Kevin might have had trouble with the elevation. He fell asleep on the way down an complained of a head ache. For me it was surprising how much I had to breathe just to move around, simply tiring, but I'm fat so there's that. Also I would say reasoning and sense was affected. like at first I did not notice how cold it was up there, then when I was really cold I dawned on me and I went and got the coat, weird. I had a lot of fun driving everywhere, on PP i liked it when there were not other cars around. I was really proud of my low brake temp compared to the guy in front of me, but I can't remember it now πŸ™ That 9, I was driving there fast, I can see how locals would hit deer. It added 75min to our trip to go that way and the guy that told us about it there said it would add 45min but that he drives fast. He must drive REALLY fast πŸ™ My favorite part was the driving and hiking in the mountains, and fortunately we did a lot of that. Enjoy the changing of the trees! I went to the Geneva Concourse this weekend, it featured Packard this year.
I guess I'll write up some details. See that hungry after hike image, my food came with a side of black beans and whoa was it too much to eat at one sitting. I was really suffering from the gas later that evening. Also my memory sucks, I forgot about the fishing, bison, and paddle boats, yippie for photos! Aga did not get to take so many photos at the amphitheater since a worker decided her camera was 'pro,' that was sad not to have many photos πŸ™ I wonder why they do that, seems stupid to me. Oh man feeding the giraffes was fun! Also that silly chipmunk, I couldn't believe it, went right into the store and was just completely mesmerized with those colorful stones for quite a long time. Oh and Jake, man he liked climbing rocks all the time.
      Have a good one,

PS: Today at work I had to avoid a turtle on the road o_O That does not happen too often, maybe second time. He was scooting along at a pretty good clip, for a turtle.

Whew, it's been a while. This month has flown by. Our interns both took full time jobs so it's been all we can do to keep up here for state tax return season. You can't blame them though, now they get full pay and benefits compared to the measly pay we were giving them. I also went on a trip to northern WI with my family. And just last week I got engaged to my best friend!

That's neat that the opposite lock guy made you those Ford GTs. That game is so fun. I'm a flatlander and it was certainly odd when we went to Yellowstone several years ago. I didn't get altitude sickness (we were only at 9-10,000 ft) but man, you start hiking and just wondering whats wrong with your body. We got used to it and were hiking all over by the end of the week. I suppose you are used to it all the time though.
      mzs…
Thanks for the comment on facebook…it looks like you are getting my updates again! (not that I post much). I had no idea that there was a lemons race at Road America last week, although I was probably too busy to go anyways. It sounds like you had an excellent vacation to Colorado. I always like seeing your pictures, they are always neat. I'll have to fill you in on the engagement story a little later as it's back to work for me.

zsm, szm, moo……….You made the right choice by going to the Cheyenne Mtn Zoo rather than the North Pole. I love zoos, and I especially like that one. Seven Falls is beautiful at Christmas time. They place red and green floodlights in strategic places, and usually it's ice, and it's really pretty at night. Also, a lot of other decorations…….like on evergreens, etc. I'm glad that turtle got across the road safely. I saw a black squirrel in the mountains Sunday. I almost got it, but it stopped in the middle of the road just in time. But I think a VW behind me got it……..not sure. Happy Taco Tuesday!
TowerofPower………..CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement to your best friend. That is just awesome! I am more used to the altitude, but still at 10,000 feet, my legs don't work as well. My home is about 5300 ft which, of course, I'm quite used to. Summer is winding down here, and I look forward to Fall. Again, good job on the engagement!

      Hi Skay,
I can't complain about the weather here, unlike those near the gulf, we got rain plus it's been dewy and foggy in the mornmings twice, needed it, was able to weed some thanks to that. I'm keeping both. The S90 will be how I get to work in the winter and also when I do the over drive swap and electronic ignition in the Amazon, exciting! I just could not pass-up on this car when Aga saw it (yes she found another, she has good track record). It was well maintained by a mechanic/welder that works for IDOT in that way that old timer mechanics do for their daughter's cars. At least I hope, ha! I have to lift-up the back and take off the rear wheels to investigate the rear end and brakes soon before I trust it too much, but should not be too bad regardless of what I find, again I hope πŸ˜‰ I actually decided to buy it after drinking a coffee cup of vodka though cause when sober I was pretty afraid to, funny story. I was eating these berries we had, then when I got near to the bottom I noticed how moldy they were πŸ™ So I decided to do the old Czech remedy. I've been too busy to get tags for it though yet πŸ™ I did call the insurance agent. Also I saw my friend's '68 140 wagon at a cruise night yesterday. It's really good, once he does all the electrical junk that conked-out, it's really otherwise in phenomenal shape. See all this everybody getting new cars business is contagious! how did learning all the neat-o gizmo stuff work-out for you with your Escape?

I'm slowly learning about my Escape and SYNC. I thought I could work the wipers without reading up on how, but I got in a shower last Friday and found out that I didn't know how to work them properly. I got the back wiper going and couldn't turn it off. Then I got so tickled that I couldn't stop laughing. So, I read the manual. But if I don't use them again soon, I'll probably forget what I read. I'm definitely a hands on person.

      Hi Skay,
Yes I do! I was thanking Aga about that earlier! Although yesterday I spent two hours getting the new car ready while she was at parent teacher meetings. She was upset about that. So at first Michelle and Jake were outside playing while I was working on the car. Then Kevin came out and we talked and he gave me a hand. Michelle was supposed to do math, and then they were supposed to watch Wipeout on TV. Well she did not do the homework and they were just playi8ng video games πŸ™ But later when the kids were asleep and we had time to talk, it came-out really what had happened is earlier in the day another mom had been mean to Aga on the phone for a long time. That's a long story. I'll probably ask for your advice about it next week after we see how things go. Anyway two nights ago Kevin was kind of bummed, so I goofed off with him that night, and was really happy about him spending time with me outside last night. I'm taking him to this buffet he likes tonight after work. I hope we don't get e. coli cause man that place I don't like. Let's just say Kevin has not developed the palate I have yet, ha πŸ˜‰ Anyway, he's bummed about school. They put him in this group based on math where he has not friends. Also he really should be in the higher math. He's really bored with the math this year. I thought I had dealt with it at the end of last school year, but guess not. There's a meeting in two weeks, I'll see what I can do then.
      Have a good one,
      5478
PS: Your wipers story made me smile πŸ˜‰ Also I have figured-out why the rear brakes are funny, one more go at it I should have them great. Also I discovered new old car (he might be a Henry, not sure yet) has LSD, and it's not blown! That's a limited slip differential, ha πŸ™‚ I vacuumed the inside, got the interior lights to work (mostly, need just one more bulb), and snipped off the bad leaky end of a wiper hose and plugged it back in. Oh and cleaned-out the air box and tapped the filter clean.

Yay! Three-day weekend. I really don't have big plans, but will have company for part of a day, will go out to eat a couple of times and then Monday is a tentative cookout, if friends get back from Denver. Other than that, I hope to get house cleaned and paperwork done. What's up for you?

One of my favorite Volvos is the 240, I remember when I was little and one had pulled up to a stoplight next to our car and I instantly fell in love with the design. Same way how I fell in love with Saab 900s and eventually other Saabs as well. Anyway, I found this neat video on a "Royal" S90 model. which is a higher end executive type car.

Those S90s you linked to are sweet. I have never seen one in person, but back in 2000 I saw an executive version of the S80. It had a center console with cooler and reclining rear seats. From the outside it was not unusual, just had this crown logo on the C pillars. I think it was more than $80K at the dealership. I was more in love with the 740s than 240s when I was a kid. That's cause Max (the guy that looked like our dog) came to visit and had only been around one before since then. Also did a lot of fun stuff with the kids, like zoo, park, DQ, etc. I learned more about Kevin's math. He is going to be fine. Basically they rotate three of the teachers per math group, he wanted the funny one for math, but has him for social studies. I bet they kept Kevin away from some of his buddies to make it easier for everyone, ha! Anyway maybe good he has a math teacher that is more typical for his learning stuff really. We might have gotten some of that rain, there was very strong wind and rain last night here, but I thought I read it was moving in a south east direction across the state last night, so I don't know. There was lighter rain all extended weekend off and on, maybe that was it? I got the car all registered yesterday, what fun to drive! I'm not sure it's Henry now that I have driven a bit more, maybe Dale? I think I may have a leak in a tire now though, I wonder if I got it at work πŸ™ Also ABS light went on. I might have done that when working on the rear brakes. It's really fun to fix things with a 5lb mallet on a car. It's exciting to have old car πŸ™‚ Yesterday was busy day, cub scout meeting, then lots of organizing for that, today is a soccer meeting and first practice. Tomorrow a second practice with the other soccer team (I am ass – ha – coach for both my sons now). Awww how cute, I know I know. Yes I did, but went with Kevin instead, long story, still have to digest everything before asking for advice. Here are more photos:

That fireball is from the flame throwers at the end of one of those cars. I want to know how those work now. Anyway Aga is just generally pissed, lots of reasons. I've tried listening and even did what she wanted where I should have, offered advice of my own on what I think she should do about the stuff that others are doing that is bugging her. Also the stuff that was the kids doing, talked with the kid, etc. One thing was that I was so busy last week I had left some stuff laying around. This morning I finished everything finally (like organizing the soccer and cub scout paperwork and fixing all the little things around the house like she had asked) last thing was my glasses got fixed so the bag with little bits was gone. I hope she's in better mood this week. next job for me though: http://www.atthetipwebs.com/technologyinstruction… I hope I can just adjust it though. Sorry to hear you going to have a busy week πŸ™ Today is first den meeting. Jake's soccer went great, Kevin's was another sore spot for Aga, again long story. Man I really hope this week goes better. I was really sad she did not go with me to the fest though, I really wish she had, would have been a much needed date πŸ™ Got any ideas for a romantic movie to rent or something?

smz, mzs, toe…………When I saw that photo, I thought a something was on fire……..gigantic flames! I've seen cars shoot flames, but nothing like that. I'm sure Kevin enjoyed the car show. I hope Aga is in better humor this week. It's hard to say what could be bugging her or if it's just a monthly thing that can't be helped. If it's the latter, nothing anybody does will help the situation. I have no idea as to a romantic movie. I'd suggest a movie that you saw together before that has some meaning. Just let her know you're there for her and walk on egg shells until whatever it is passes. I'm not much help, but I don't understand why woman are like they are either. πŸ˜‰
      Happy Taco Tuesday!

      Hi Skay,
It's definitely not the time of the month thing, it's stress like that mom. Anyway Aga wants me to call her today, I'll see how that goes. I talked to the secretary here at work, she did a good job raising a daughter now in college, and got some advice from her. Yesterday was better, Aga was a bit ticked-off in the morning and then during the cub meeting when I looked at the sheet and got the order of the meeting wrong, but was able to wing that back fine. And no kid got hurt or anything, so that's great considering it was all outdoor stuff, ha! She talked with one of the moms there, that seemed to help, then we played Sequence was nice like before. She did tell me that she still had trouble sleeping. Anyway Michelle is becoming a somewhat obnoxious preteen and some other girls are making things rough as well as some moms that are being annoying as well. It's really stupid stuff, generally Michelle needs to be more assertive and say no when other kids want her to do things that she knows are wrong, like knock over the birthday cup cakes of another girl etc. I just won't give-up being a dad trying to raise good decent kids is what it boils down to. Oh and with Kevin, Aga wants me to talk to him about all that changes stuff that is going to be happening. Every time I do then she's like, no way you could have done it that fast. But yeah we do, just boys are different, not such a concern really. The funniest thing is she got this book from the library that is all serious about this stuff and Kevin and I just can't stop laughing when we look at it.

smz, mzs, sky…………What a glorious day with slow, steady light rain. It's badly needed moisture, for sure, with temps in the 60's. It's the first time my Escape got really wet, and I finally figured the w/s wipers out. The lever goes up and down and back and forth and the knob at the end goes every which way with the very tip for the back window. I gotta have hands on to figure stuff out. Just reading the manual doesn't do it for me. Did you call that mom? It's too bad that she's giving Aga so much stress. At least, you know it's nothing that you've done. Oh boy, Michelle is just starting her terrible teenage years. I remember what a snot I was as a teenager. I couldn't help it either. I was especially snotty to my mother………shame on me. I laughed at you and Kevin laughing at that book. You have a good relationship with your kids, and both you and Aga are tremendous parents. Be proud.
      Happy wet Hump Day!

I got a quick breather after handing some stuff in at work so, story time! I contemplated for a long time how the proposal was going to go, but after a lot of thinking, I knew that my girlfriend liked small meaningful things over big public things. My original and very public plan was to propose in the restaurant on top of the John Hancock building in Chicago. But after some thought I figure that was too overdone on TV and in movies. So instead we spent the day together going to Cave Of The Mounds. It's really near to where I grew up and I had been there a few time before, but she had always wanted to go so we went there. It's really a neat cave system if you are into that kind of thing. The craziest part is that the rock that the cave is carved out of is about 500 million years old! That blew my mind! Anyways, after the cave I suggested going to Blue Mounds State Park which is known for being the highest point in southern Wisconsin at a whopping 1,716 feet (I can hear you laughing $kaycog). They have an observation tower on top where you can see Platteville (where we both met about 45 miles away) and Sinsinawa Mound which is just outside of Dubuque (where my girlfriend grew up about 60 miles away). After much waiting for other observers to leave I had my girlfriend set up her camera and tripod so that we could take a picture of us against our history in the background. I had her take a couple to "make sure they were turning out ok". Really I was trying to get the timing of the pictures down. Then on the 5th self portrait I pulled out the ring and got down on my knee just as the camera clicked for a picture, so I even got a picture! Though I don't have access to the picture at work (I'll work on that). It turned out rather well. I was convinced that something would screw up the day but it all worked!
      mzs…
Hello new (used) Volvo!! That's fun. I don't know why but like Buick Boy I always thought those were front wheel drive. Never assume I guess. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with that and being rear wheel drive, should make snowy parking lots extra fun!
      $kaycog…
It sounds like you are getting your car all figured out. Too bad about all the recalls but I think it's great that Ford is being very open and taking care of issues quickly. I too learn best by playing with things. I think they call it kinesthetic learning or something. Glad to hear you are getting rain! So many areas need it!
      Happy Hump Day!

      Hi Tower,
Again that was a very sweet way to propose. You really out did yourself! I hope to see that photo soon. Here's to a great future!
Here's something that surprised me, this morning the forecast had 100% chance of rain while it was splendid outside. I've never noticed that before, and it does now look outside like it will rain. Michelle told me the car is named Dale, just that the car told her so. Dale has not spoken to me yet, but he likes to go fast. Also when he starts, it's beautiful cause of hydraulic lifters. It's like ROAR roar ROAR tick tick tick vroom rumble…. It's like some monster waking-up πŸ™‚
      Hi Skay,
Yes I called, was a twelve minute conversation. I think it went really well considering. You know Aga got another book now, "Where do babies come from?" Oh man… Here's a funny thing from yesterday. Aga and I went to eat for lunch, we tried that Italian place again. So except for long wait for food was very good this time. But before we got there I saw a very nice Willy's, but it was gone later. Also I parked and there were these two ladies talking to what turned-out to be one of the waitresses. I think they were related to the owners since they later were talking in Italian, in that way that Italians talk that sounds like a quarrel but really it's just a conversation. Well next to Astrid was a grey Corolla and Jetta. The new melted looking sorts. One was getting into the Jetta and the other was flustered that the door was was not opening cause she was trying to get in the wrong car. The one in the right car complemented Astrid and I said, "I like your car too, but the problem with new cars is they all look the same." That one thought it was funny, the other not amused sadly, dang I feel bad for her husband.
      Have a good one,

TowerofPower……..That is about the most romantic proposal I've ever heard. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'll give you a 1,000,000,000 on that one. I absolutely love it!!!!!! I look forward to seeing the photo. Our slow, steady drizzle yesterday gave us a little over one inch of rain. I loved it. Again, congratulations!
mzs, smz, sun……….I too think what you said to the gals about all new cars looking the same is hilarious. Good for you! So, how's the where babies come from book? Are all the kids going to read it? Glad you had good experience at Italian restaurant. What did you have to eat? Tomorrow is Friday, and I'm ready for it. It was a busy week again which is just fine with me. I hope to have time to check into my Escape's recall tomorrow. For some reason, I'm not that concerned about it, and I guess I should be.

      Hi Skay,
Oh man I accidentally quit the browser πŸ™ Anyway, have not read the book, looked it over, more targeted toward Jake. This image cracks me up: https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/55056… Jake would be unstoppably silly after seeing that though. It's funny book though, like the kids have all these crazy ideas like babies explode out of gigantic eggs!
For the meal we got mushroom soup, gnocchi in a white cheesy sauce, and pizza. The pizza was with garlic, oil, bacon, some kind of crumbly cheese, and tomatoes. It was all very good, I liked the mushroom soup the least, Aga the most, so worked-out great.
Yesterday I saw Raiders with Kevin at IMAX, but I don't think it was the restored version that was shown last year in a small number of regular theaters. It was still a lot of fun and something special to do. Soccer practice was in the rain. I have to get back to work now.

I'm having trouble waking up today, probably because it's cloudy and cooler. My weekend was as usual with laundry, cleaning and shopping. I skipped church Sunday AM and went to visit friends. Sunday afternoon was paperwork with NASCAR in the background. I hope your weekend was pleasant. That image in your last comment is really funny. I think that's pretty much what I said. Happy Monday!

      Hi Skay,
Glad you had a good weekend with friends, sorry about paperwork though πŸ™ I had really annoying day so far, here is copy paste from drunkcast:
Lady on west coast setup conference call today. Here it was during lunch. For almost 15 minutes I was on hold listening to audio loop that wanted to make me smash things. Right I'm hungry, so I email her that I'm waiting. Then it hangs-up on me, telling me to try again later. I email again saying she should just call me when she can. Then I see I have email from her. It's a robo email, saying she is out last Fri and today o_O
We had nice weekend here. Some soccer games, Kevin did really well for him, I was proud. Then I took them to park. There they wanted to do olympics, one thing Kevin ran a mile, and Jake one more lap, seriously, he was just like he had to just to beat his brother. I ran just one with Michelle, but I was so tired that night. After charades (Oh Aga had night out with friends) I put them to bed and went to the hot tub cause my muscles were sore. That was mistake, all that outside in the heat, hot water was not a good idea. I suddenly had these awful shakes. Got in the house, jumped in hot shower then dressed-up and jumped in bed. There was this buzzing in my head but Aga got home soon and gave me some fever pills. I was fine the next day thankfully.
<img src="https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/563897_891746485760_135961930_n.jpg&quot; width=600"> Yesterday Aga, Michelle, and Jake did this neat fund raiser on bikes. Kevin and I went to VW show and a bunch of other stuff. Was not as neat as the ones in CA, but still good. I'll tell you VW people are really laid back, like registration is between 9-noon and more are still showing-up at 2PM πŸ˜‰ I want to do a post on that, so I'll shut-up for now, if I ever finish the one I am doing about Packards! Anyway got that nice photo on the way back when I got BBQ for everybody. Aga was happy, a few less meals she needs to make.

smz, szm, par……….That bucket thing is very funny. A couple of Oppo guys posted a couple of pics. One wasn't in a bucket, so I told him it didn't count. I posted the last to Disabled_Vette last night, but he's either tired of it or got mixed up. Doesn't matter. It doesn't take much to amuse me. πŸ˜‰ I wonder what the deal was with you getting shakes after using hot tub?? I'm glad you're okay now. I have a new place for us. I'll go get it now and use it for the last one in this thread (5499). We'll give Alff a break from email notifications (for awhile anyway). BRB!
