Just a subtle reminder that the MGBGT is one of the best looking touring cars out there, and it makes for a bad-ass wide-fender rally racer too.

And especially good with an V-8.

Here is a V8 version, lapping just a few seconds off pointy-end GT3 pace

You know, there are things that work in theory. Here I figure the demographics for a British roadster on a Corvette chassis are pretty…slim. And drunk.
-
Yeah there’s ways to do things and ways not to.
This is one of the latter.

I got the shipping notice that my Bavauto order for the 318ti should arrive on Tuesday. Then I read the fine print. That’s only the brake hose, the caliper is shipping direct from the supplier, delivery unknown. Sigh.
The control arms I ordered for the Mazda3 are on their way, though. I just need to get the BMW out of the garage first. -
That’s an MGC, ya dingdong.
Check the hood.
Still, pure sex. 😉-
And one of the competition versions too, that were supposed to take over from the Big Healey’s successes. As described in Ate Up With Motors usual excellent style.

That’s why they needed the bonnet bulge.

And it’s this actual car described here… http://www.retromodmag.com/features/2015/6/22/1969-mgc-gt -
Bonnet…

Noted.

We spell colour and aluminium different too 🙂
-
The extra vowels make all the difference. So fancy!
-
We had it first. It is the English language. We can make our own rules. 🙂
-
Monty Python alone gives Brits plenty of leeway. And I’m partial to grey vs gray, despite being a Yank. But we’re very busy here, no time for extraneous syllables like your vestigial “i” in aluminum!
-
Grey is my favourite colour, neighbour.
(Actually, it’s blue, but Americans haven’t found a way to change that yet.)

AAAAAARRRRGHHHHHHHHHH! (Little Holy Grail fer ya)
Txt from the dealer at 4pm- It’ll be ready in an hour.
My reply- I’ll wait for Saturday.
Really- by 4 on Friday, I’m already tailgating. And traffic sucks.
7pm tonight- we’re short handed and your car will be ready Wednesday.
DubyaTeeEff? I txt that I’ll be there tomorrow to collect my Mustang or my check.
5 minutes later I get a call from the manager… who explained that the tires were not going to pass state spec and the pads and rotors didn’t meet their standards. It’ll be Wednesday before they can get this fixed. New tires and all.
I explained that I’ll be replacing the pads with Hawk Blacks and the disks are $30 at Autozone. The tires- I’m selling the wheels on CL to get them out of my den. I’ll sign a waiver and whatever. Gimme my car.
April 17 isn’t a national holiday. But it should be.
I get my car tomorrow. Bald tires and all. I’ll have to spring for the state inspection when I get the NT05s mounted.
Such drama. I just want me car.
Man, those Minilites (or Panasports? Minisport Panalites?) are such great looking wheels. They work on soooo many different Yurp cars.
-
specially British…

They work on lots of things, eg Allan Moffat’s KarKraft-built TransAm Mustang
-
The Mustang – this generation in particular, I think – works with a wider variety of wheels than any other iconic automobile. (Maybe not to the purists, but screw those guys anyway.)

I knew I should have used this picture.

The Camel Rover?
-
As it started out before the Repco-Holden V8 was fitted. And on a NZ excursion. The car is now back in the original configuration of the uppermost picture, back in the UK, (with the 21 on the door).

I’m in it for the Julia Louis-Dreyfus content alone, but anyone with a sense of humor will likely dig this. Hardcore EV fans & Mercedes people might like it, too.

AA+? I’d have given it an AAA rating.
I’ve just bought one of these! It’s an utter rust bucket but I got it for 99p! Gave the chap £120 for the parts he had to go with it, but the car itself was 99p!
I’ve got a Rover V8 to go In it once the monumental rust is exorcised, along with a Jag rear end from my crushed XJ40, an LT77 from a V8 Sherpa, transfer case from a Discovery, a Subaru R160 up front (same diff ratio as the Jag rear), Freelander front hubs (same bolt pattern as the Jag), big knobbly tyres on a wider track and nice open Baja-style wheelarches.
It’ll be a Baja B!
