Last Call: If You See My Van A Rockin' Don't Come a Knockin' Because I'm Murdering My Ex Edition

Van murals offer a rich tradition of individual expression, typically tapping into he-man fantasy or—my personal favorite—wolves baying at the full moon for their inspiration. Another subject that’s far less common is the ex-spouse, which also can be… I guess… a fitting tribute to… oh I don’t know… what once was? Seriously though, this Dodge Tradesman is why restraining orders were invented.
Last Call indicates the end of Hooniverse’s broadcast day.  It’s meant to be an open forum for anyone and anything. Thread jacking is not only accepted, it’s encouraged.

Apart from the mural, that’s a pretty good looking van. Makes me miss mine. 🙁

Those were actually cheaper knock offs from Appliance Industries.

How about this 1975-ish Holden panelvan. Note the jaguar in the mural has 6 legs, because it is running a Jag V12!

Is the Aussie street machine in any way affiliated with the former UK magazine of the same name? (which I believe morphed into Classic American or something)

I didn’t know there was one in the UK, but I wouldn’t think so. I never heard any reference to it. The Australian one evolved from being Van Wheels in the mid 1970s and before that a hot rodding magazine.
Should add that the name of the van is Ally Cat.

Kinda funny that how things evolved in different parts of the worls, UK Street Machine is before my time but pretty much defines the 70s UK hot rod scene, where people would have liked to have had 32 Fords, but made do with Anglias, wolfrace slot mags and Rover V8s – it did sort of create its own interesting scene, but I guess as those original 70s rodders got older, they eventually managed to buy the US metal the lusted after and the magazine morphed into more a Classic American magazine, where by the 90s, the youth modding scene had moved more in the Max Power modded hatchback direction http://farm9.static.flickr.com/8612/15173730144_336e7a8441.jpg

It’s been a while since I posted a picture of the 818S we’re working on. Today was sunny and a little spring like, so we got it outside for a spin around the parking lot. I got this nice shot with the remains of the donor. Just a couple of things left to wrap up.

Ah but that’s a flat six, I was thinking of the latest gen turbo fours. 🙂

          1. salguod Avatar

            Well, let’s see…
1998 Boxter is 201 HP and 2,825 lbs
2017 Boxter is 300 HP and 2,950 lbs
Our 818 dyno’d at 335 WHP and is under 2,000 lbs
            Sounds fair. 😀

So I’ve been uploading pictures I take to a site, and I figured I should say something about it. There are cars in some of them! Really, really, tiny cars.

Standard track gauge is 4 feet, 8 and a half inches. One rail starts below the likely victim’s shoulder blades. The other rail reaches approximately the bottom of her butt.
Her head, neck, and legs stick out past the tracks by at least her torso length, so she is about 9 feet tall.

Spoken like someone who has never tied a girl to train tracks before. Sheesh.

Yes, I’ve learned that you need to stick to documentaries for planning purposes

Maybe. A freight train at speed can take over a mile to bring to a halt. No way would the engineer be able to spot the girl from that far back, particularly from around a bend.
The kiddie train has a small fraction of the freight train’s mass or speed, and the engineer could easily notice the girl and stop the train within a few dozen yards. End result, the woman lives and reports the misdeeds of her ex to the authorities.

Also, if that’s a kiddie train in the mural, it’s being driven by a leprechaun.

Or a 5-year-old boy, blond hair, wearing a T-shirt that says bullshit on it.
