Last call … anything goes, right? Fine. I just got in from the garage. I just want to say, I am sofa king tired of wrenching on Alfas. Just finished cutting one Spider to bits, now preparing to remove engine and tranny from the keeper. Meanwhile it was 74 degrees today, day 1 of the 2010 convertible season and the clock is ticking. Ugh.
Glad I got that off my chest.

I was sick of replacing guibo joints on the BMW until I learned some Alfas have 3 (!!!).

Things necessary to fix on my current 2002 A4 Avant are starting to pile up. It needs tires and the usual front suspension bits replaced. The coolant is mysteriously slowly making its way into the oil. I already replaced the oil cooler and that didn't solve the problem. I'm considering selling it and replacing it with a newer 2007 model (expensive at $30k certified used) or an old Ur-S4 Avant if I can find one. The 2007 is one of the last years to have a manual transmission and quattro. They come with the 2.0T engine. The Ur-S4 has the 5-cylinder turbo but I find it hard to rationalize spending so much on a car from the early 1990s. Subaru GT wagons with the manual are nearly as rare as the Ur-S4…I guess I'm just pondering options.
