It’s not general knowledge, but back in the early 1960s Good Year experimented with illuminated tires. They were made out of synthetic rubber and lighted by bulbs from within, the tires could be made in any color you could ask, just by adapting a different filter for the lamps inside. Mostly a publicity stunt, the light-up tires never made it to production, but they did make for some cool publicity stills and the cover of LIFE magazine.
