Last Call: Atomic Crab Edition

IMG_2569
In my humble opinion, the 2016 Honda Civic trails competitors like the Ford Focus and Mazda 3 in the looks department. It does somewhat make up for that by channelling the 2017 Volvo S90 in its tail light design, which on the road looks like a pair of angry post-apocalyptic crab claws when illuminated. That’s got to be worth something, right?

It’s got nothing on the “wrong way” signals on the Edsel wagon.

The thing that strikes me about the new Civics is how large they are.

It’s been too long since I’ve seen a detailed analysis of model bloat.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the 1st-Civic vs. latest-Civic comparison made this E-body vs. LC/LA-platform Challenger comparison look reasonably restrained…

Agreed. Honda (including Acura here) seems to not worry so much about product overlap.

The new civic coupe looks larger than a nineties accord coupe.

I saw one of each other parked next to each other a while back, and you’re actually quite right. I tried explaining it to my wife, but she just didn’t quite get the same laugh out of it that I did.

All of a sudden, Evil Bunny.

I seriously had to ask Honey Bunny (resident bunny expert) if the red Mazda 2 ahead of us looked like an Evil Bunny. She agreed.

I love his writing. He’s the primary reason I still read anything over there.

Side effect of being substantially through a Buffy the Vampire Slayer bingewatch: I can’t parse the concept of evil bunnies without thinking of this…

The newest generation of MB Citaro busses has Tetris rearlights. I want to stack the LEDs to fit better…best photo I found:

The new Civics (not a half bad name for a band, now that I think of it) have a bit f Accord Crosstour in them. Am I the only one that doesn’t hate the Crosstour?

The Crosstour doesn’t really bug me.

No. A neighbor has a sort of purplish-rose color one that’s really quite handsome. The black ones also have a lot of presence. I don’t foresee being in the market for something that big, but I wonder how resale values will hold up. I haven’t seen a new Civic yet, but if it’s got Crosstour styling hints that’s not a bad thing.
