In this weekend series, I’ll be posting a more detailed, more dedicated post on the Lamborghini Countach. But just as a point of note, this Cannonball Run intro scene is what drove the car into my psyche. See the full clip below.

“It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it/ Be anything you wanna be”
Isn’t that solid life advice?
And of course, there’s this:
Good morning!
Hal Needham is a genius.
I recently saw a showing of Smokey and the Bandit and Cannonball Run and a Q&A with Hal Needham inbetween. That dude is lucky to be alive after all the stories he told.
Where was this and why wasn't I aware???
In LA about a month ago.

That is friggn' awesome.
Once in a lifetime opportunity that was.
Dem downshifts.. *whats-his-face biting lip meme thingamajig* The tithes ain't bad either.
I didn't know the Countach in that movie was played by Burt Reynolds. I guess that explains the mustache.

I could watch that gif all day. Some fine acting there.
But it's a tad disappointing that scenic roads already were infected by the RV-plague back then. Sad, sad thing.
Most of that opening sequence was shot just outside of Vegas heading towards Boulder City where Highway 95 goes south towards Needles. You can see the Railroad Pass casino in the background. That area still looks the same today for the most part.
we always drive nice on the public roads as that is transportation and we race on the track. Hollywood isn't real. that said, had you ever seen a film in which a diablo was skipped across a lake? the name escapes me…..ahhh..to be young and going mach 2 with hair on fire again…
I see Diablo's skipping across lakes all the time. Neat way to escape rush hour traffic.
Came here for cop cleavage and Lambos. Was not disappointed. 🙂
I will put that DVD in to just watch this scene. The ridiculousness of the Trans Am Highway Patrol chasing a Countach through the desert is the definition of 80s awesomeness. I love that car, that song, and that opening scene!
THis is the clip I usually queue up when I'm feeling kind of bleh. THe tone of that Countach, the reving, rev-matching and the final take off is pure sex.
If it ever gets to be more than six months or so since my last viewing of Cannonball Run, I get itchy and jumpy…..
Does anyone love the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder? we have one at <a href="http://www.mphclub.com” target=”_blank”>www.mphclub.com
