Insane Video- Pike's Peak Detour

Evo Fall

Jeremy Foley took his Evo 8 for a little off road excursion on a run up Pike’s Peak in 2012.  Fortunately neither Foley nor his co-driver suffered anything worse than some bumps and bruises in the kinetic deconstruction of their Mitsubishi racer. You can view the calamitous results of this slight course miscalculation here (NSFW, language), but if you want to see what it looked like from Foley’s POV, you can catch the jump after the jump.

Funny, when I was 17 I had a slight course miscalculation that resulted in going offroad and tumbling a few times. And I said the exact same thing when I left the road!
Granted, the biggest drop off I faced was a ditch…

All I have to say, has been said by Pirelli…

Good tires and experience have a lot to do with maintaining control.
That guy might want to check out a Go- cart track and work his way from there.

During the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in 2011, Bobby Regester ran off the road. Thankfully, a boulder stopped his car, and he wasn't injured. Bobby retired from racing after that incident.

That was actually a pretty smooth crash, if I do say so myself.

I love hearing him let off the throttle and seeing the immediate drift toward the outside.

Holy shit… Never underestimate the value of a well designed cage and proper safety equipment!
Seriously, I want to know who built his cage.

MotoIQ had an article that went over the cage design & how it performed in the crash a few months back.

Fuck the Sierra Club; they're doing a great job of killing the Pike's Peak hill climb.
And for those who want to justify their actions, as yourself this; if the city of Colorado Springs wanted to pave the mountain, and the Sierra Club objected to it, do you think it would have happened?

Just incredible that this went so well. My belly turned into a black hole just watching this.
And now to what Youtube recommends after the crash:
