I’ve had these images lingering on my hard drive over the course of several laptops and this olelongrooffan
thought this might be the time they
saw the light of day on this Hooniverse Wagon Wednesday.
Hooniverse Wagon Wednesday: Just Because A Few Images of the 1964 Ford Aurora Might Be Appropriate Here
-
I've seen that rear end before…

I don't know why I feel compelled to say it, but that's a beautiful shape (the Ford, that is). -
Ford, why didn't you set up an Aurora division? This is the future that should have been.
-
Oh, how cool. We came so close.
-
Because what car *wouldn't* be improved through the installation of a sectional sofa?
-
And throw pillows!
-
Just think how much better the Lotus 7 could have been!
-
It looks like there are speakers behind the front seat passenger, up on the ceiling. And I wonder if that is a pull out fridge just in front of the sofa.
-
-
and to think now adays people would complain about not having a second door on the drivers' side….. who needs a door when you can have a sectional in the wagon like that!
pure awesome!

The Aurora also had what could be argued to be the first indash "nav" screen too.

Wow, look at the distance between the radio pushbuttons and the dial in that top picture. With the climate and radio controls and that screen between them, I wonder what the mechanical linkage looks like?
-
I'm not even sure that those are the pushbuttons for the radio. In the higher resolution picture on my blog, I can see something written on the buttons, but can't make out what it may be. It almost looks like a pushbutton transmission.
Actually, being a show car, I'd be very surprised if any of that stuff actually worked for real anyway.

Those chrome hood panels are very 50s-Pontiac-esque.
Looks like the predecessor to the conversion van with those windows and the sectional sofa. -
That's about the sexiest thing ever, it's like a cocktail party on wheels.
-
I figured out what the roofline reminds me of.

I'd obviously have the Ford. Mmmmmm.
