I’ve heard from quite a few people who are taking part in this contest, and many of you were pleading for me to give more time to complete your masterpieces. Unfortunately, if we give it any more time, we’ll have forgotten what we were doing.
I’ve received submissions in every way imaginable. Some have been emailed, some have come through iChat, some were links, some were commented in the article. I need to sort all this out and make sure I have everyone’s FINAL draft. From some people I’ve got seven or eight different versions. So here’s the rule: You have until December 1 at 5:00 PM California time. At that time, I’ll put together a post of all the submissions I have. To make sure I don’t miss any, your submission must be sent to me at dearthair@hooniverse.com with “Coat of Arms” in the subject line. So you’ve got a few days left for your final polish.
Now, the prize you’re all fighting for is pretty glorious. I’m giving away a Hooque to the winner (unless, you know, the winner is the creator of the Hooque, in which case she can substitute for a piece of Hoonimerch). If you haven’t seen them, here’s the prototype:
(The logo will actually be smaller and professionally produced, but it’s there to give you an idea of what we’re talking about.) Clearly, anyone worth their salt would want one of these seriously beautiful hats, available in several styles (I think; Amber can jump in and correct me if I’m wrong). It will be custom made to fit your head, so it’s actually worth competing. So remember. December 1 is your deadline.

OOOOHHHH the image is supposed to be rusted chrome… I thought it was carnival paint, my bad.
"You have until December 1 at 5:00 PM California time" Dearthair do you really need to dumb it down? I think most of us on this site would recognise Pacific time.-
Least he didn't say Western Kansas time. That half goes by a different clock.

Dude, he did. At least for me. I added 3 to Cali – presto. Had he said PST I'd still be counting on the abacus.

I will have you know that the effect I was going for was "tarnished" Chrome, not rusted. Completely different chemical process! Tarnish can be fixed, but rust is forever. 🙁 It was supposed to represent the vexed Hoons from around the Interwebs, seeking redemption at some terminus of the toobes [sic] and pipes. (Pun intended)
Ah who am I kidding, it was the result of Dearthair and I managing to get on the phone and stay sober long enough to crank out some have decent ideas.
D: "A logo like the badge from a car!"
T: "What like this?"
D: "NO! Shittier! Not so shiny!"
T: "Ohh, like the one on my car?"
D: "Sort of, but more like it's the result pedigree instead of pathetic." -
I grew up in British Columbia, and know that 5PM in their Pacific time zone can mean anytime between 4:30 and 10PM. The town I went to school in, Rossland BC, used to claim to have their own time zone. If you were arriving at 7PM, Rossland time, that meant precisely at 8:42-ish.

Must be the legendary bud?

I've been meaning to get back to Red Mountain. I like that place.

I have a 100% complete biased suggestion, maybe it can play a bit part in the design…….
there are a few places on Earth that can claim to be all about all things automotive…. Detroit is one of them.
Now, I'm a Detroiter born and (in the metro area) raised.
Maybe there's a way to incorporate this into the Coat-of-Arms?

I hate that video so much!

That has to be the worst video…. she can't carry a tune, she can't rhyme worth a damn, and as far as personality….. dayem.
I'm not a fan of urban music in general, but the producers of this… this…. this video could have made it more professional looking, less one-take amateurish.
