It is my considered opinion—and I should point out that I am an expert on such things—that the traditional Panasport alloy wheel is the perfect accoutrement for damn-near any automotive aesthetic. Like James Bond’s classic one-button suit or choosing a walk in the park for a first date encounter, there’s a timeless perfection in the execution.
Its so perfect in fact, that I need your help. You see, I’ve been thinking about a set of Pannies for a project and that got me also thinking about how awesome the wheels look on every car I’ve ever seen them on. That’s where you come in. What I want to know today is what cars wouldn’t look amazing with Panasport wheels. Visual aids are of course worth extra credit. Thanks in advance for pushing science forward.

50’s Cadillac.

I think I could live with a set of Minilites on a restomod 1948-52 (53?) fastback.

my Tucson
-
F450 Supercrew with the bro-dozer treatment
-
I think they’d be too small for my Challenger. (Minimum wheel diameter 18″ to clear the front brakes.)
-
Anything with factory wheels larger than 16″. True Panasports don’t come any bigger than 16″.

I’m rubbish with GIMP, but I don’t think this would have looked very good anyway.

I don’t know; a Mig with Panasports sounds awesome to me…

“Comrade, what that needs is a set of 24s!”
-
On the contrary, I think that looks fantastic!

I’m sure there are some. Probably none that I want to drive.

Prove me wrong Mr. Harrell!-
Panasport doesn’t appear to list anything that will take a 4.00 x 8 tire.

…and there isn’t an aftermarket lift kit?
-
Dude, you’re just not trying

I’ve become wary about buying golf cart parts. I got some brake parts for my HMV Freeway through Buggies Unlimited, in that the Freeway shares brakes with certain models of E-Z-GO carts, and ended up on their catalog mailing list for longer than I would have liked. I did get to learn that there are far more aftermarket items out there for golf carts than I had suspected. Far, far more. Disturbingly more. It’s its own world.

Panasport is of course a copy of the Minilite wheel. Might be worth referencing the original here. The design works best on smaller to medium size cars. Large trucks for example would look a little silly. The slot mag or kidney bean wheel should be used on larger vehicles.

Aztek.

No wheel design looks good on that visual abomination.

Can only think of cars they(or something very similar) look good on, and this is what I’d do if I ever end up getting one of these.. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/3acbc123a426f36b2126adfa91d8b46fc9122a47183b9090e78ae8d17793648c.jpg

Thinking about getting those exact wheels for the GSi. Though I may be swayed to the white version. Something about white wheels on a bright red car.
-
I’ve no idea what exact model those wheels are, but I like them on the GT86.

Sorry, I had meant to include that information in the reply above. They are Enkei Compe – from the classics line they released pretty recently. There are some other old school designs as well, but the Compe is the best. http://enkei.com/shop/classic/compe/

Agree, they look great. I can’t seem to find the weights listed on them anywhere though. 16×8 +0 is perfect for me, but i’m curious what their weight is…

They’re pretty damn ugly on that BMW at the top of this post.
