The tagline for the 2004 thriller Highwaymen is When Murder is no Accident, Revenge is no Crime. Yes, that’s pretty stupid, but the movie isn’t. Jim Caviezel plays Rennie Crey, who spends his time behind the wheel of a sweet ’68 Barracuda searching for the crazed – and wheelchair-bound – serial killer who took the life of his wife. That serial killer prefers a ’72 Cadillac Eldorado to an accessible van, but then, he is a homicidal maniac so he’s probably not making the best choices.
Highwaymen also stars Rhona Mitra as the wacko’s next target, and whom Crey has to protect lest she become yet another road-related fatality. The cat and mouse plot is sprinkled with excellent car chases and some inventive auto-related carnage. You a taste of that in the trailer, which thankfully doesn’t give away the entire plot. It’s a goofy movie played straight, and if you like night driving, you’ll be right at home. Check it out right after the jump.
