Hoonivercinema: Best Motoring Super Battle

I’m a huge Best Motoring fan and I was deeply saddened when they closed their doors in 2011. The variation that the Best Motoring International series offered, from the Track and Touge Battles to Gymkhana runs, was a more enthusiast-minded environment than the comparable fact driven Motorweek.
Of all the battles, the Super Battle from 2006 reigns king. It’s an automotive David vs Goliath with a NSX-R and Murcielago trading places, which is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Remember back to the mid 2000’s, because that’s when the Lamborghini Gallardo was recently released and the Murcielago was the big bull. Now pit them with some of the best offerings that Germany and Japan had to offer, and things get very interesting quite quickly.
Best Motoring has obviously favored the JDM vehicles and strategically placed more powerful competitors from other countries on tight technical tracks such as Tsukuba. When more open tracks such as Twin Ring Motegi and Fuji Speedway are featured in some of the other battles, this one is undoubtably my favorite.

It features truly fantastic and memorable driving thanks to Motoharu “Gan-San” Kurosawa in the NSX-R and Takashi Ohi in a M3 CSL. The abilities of Gan-San are without question and being able to keep up with the Murcielago boasting twice the power is impressive. Ohi in the CSL keeping up with the 996 Turbo in the esses is also quite a mighty thing to behold.

Hard to believe we’ve been without new Best Motoring/Hot Version content for 4+ years! The Touge battles were always my favorite part, as they didn’t seem to be quite as serious on actual race tracks.
If you haven’t already seen it, and enjoy sliding around you should really watch the Drift Bible.

I still have this on DVD somewhere. Got it at Hot Import Nights in… probably 2005 or 2006. I agree, the touge battles were always excellent.

Came across this video of the Best Motoring peeps racing their own personal cars. Highlights including an Impala SS, a Celsior (LS400), and a Legacy wagon
